International Action Day of homage to Leon Trotsky,
83 years after his assassination at the hands of Stalinism
Intervention of Abu Muad of the Editorial Committee of the newspaper
"The Truth of the Oppressed" of the socialists of Syria and the Middle East
"The program of Trotskyism won over those who are today the leaders of the Leon Sedov Brigade, which had and has the pride of having been the only Trotskyist brigade to have fought side by side with the comrades in Libya and Syria, supporting the masses."
Good afternoon comrades. I am going to take up again some concepts previously said and with this I will enter into a short intervention, to later give the floor to the comrades who are in Syria and who are going to intervene from the very field of combat, once again scourged by the fire of Bashar Al Assad.
It has been said that the Stalinist Communist Party was complicit in Hitler's rise to power. In 1933 Hitler ascends to power and 7 years later it is that same Communist Party, responsible for Hitler's victory in Germany, which orchestrated the assassination of our comrade Leon Trotsky. So we already know how Stalinism is shaping up in history.
Some fifty years later the Berlin Wall fell and Stalinism finished selling the Workers States out to imperialism on a platter. Some 10 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall we saw Bush attacking the working class of the Maghreb and the Middle East, invading first Afghanistan and then Iraq with the imperialist troops; putting a machine gun to the temple, not only of the working class of the Maghreb and the Middle East, but of the world workers movement.
While all this was going on, after losing Comrade Trotsky, we Trotskyists were in the resistance. After the fall of the USSR, Trotskyism exploded into a thousand pieces, trying to explain why.
Bush subdues the region and plunders the oil in it; and another 10 years had not passed, that in the 21st century, Trotskyism was still in the resistance; Stalinism being, once again, the spearhead that opened the doors of Iraq to imperialism with the Peshmerga Party allied with the Kurdish Communist Party.
Ten years after that invasion, a huge chain of revolutions coming from the Maghreb and the Middle East swept the planet, starting in Tunisia, passing through Egypt, Libya.... And one said "It's now, it's time". The masses were in the streets, taking over the cities, breaking up the armies and even arming themselves.
These uprisings caused dictators who had been in power for 30, 40 and even 50 years to fall. And we are wondering what the left will do now? As always, Stalinism was the first to turn around in Syria, which was one of the places where the masses went the furthest. It was there that the masses had the gendarme of imperialism in the region, the Zionist State of Israel, at their will. It was where they put in check the domination of imperialism in the region.
In Syria the masses were on the rampage, they went up to a few blocks from the government house of Bashar al-Assad, having set up Coordination Committees, with thousands and millions in the streets. And one said to the left, "It is now"....
The first to give a blow to that revolution was the Kurdish Communist Party which sealed a deal with Bashar al-Assad. Stalinism immediately came out in support of al-Assad. Bashar is then assisted by imperialism, and the Gurkha troops of the region, such as Hezbollah, Iran, etc. All of them were helped by that Stalinist left, which gave the "green light" and encouraged Bashar al-Assad, and said that the mass insurrection was not a workers' insurrection but was encouraged by imperialism.
And one said that it was the moment for Trotskyism to appear, the moment for all those who were in the resistance to give their lives, to give their blood and the militancy of all these years to be at the head of those workers revolutions that were shaking the planet, and even tended to join the uprisings that were developing in Europe.
And once again the renegades of Trotskyism with false banners of the Fourth International did nothing but place themselves at the feet of the opposicionist bourgeoisie, hoping for a miracle, while supporting those who sold out the revolution from within, in Syria, in Libya. Or slandering it, saying that they were "NATO ground troops", or that the worst thing that could happen to a mass insurrection was to arm itself.
Imperialism reinvented Al Qaeda with the name of Islamic State. Obviously, the entire right wing and imperialism came out to "condemn" this Islamic State which, once again, was born in Syria as "the new monster that horrified humanity". While imperialism condemned it, the Stalinist left was behind it, as a caboose, and many renegades of Trotskyism said that there were no allies in the revolutions of the Maghreb and the Middle East, but that there was a "common enemy" which was the Islamic State. Meanwhile the masses were still in the streets resisting.
We found out that there was a "Trotskyist" party in Turkey, near the Syrian revolution. It did everything but support the Syrian revolution, and it was the brother of the Argentine Partido Obrero which slandered the Syrian revolution. Years in the resistance waiting for the moment, and when the moment arrived, the only thing they did was to betray and go over with the enemy...
And here comes the Math, because, what does this leave us as a lesson?: out of 7,000 million inhabitants of the planet, only two human beings, with a whole structure behind them and hundreds of comrades supporting them, were present in the same field of combat in Syria to support that revolution. But they did not go alone, they carried a program, which is Trotsky's program for the revolution. Those two comrades, they were, or tried to embody, that program. And it was that program which captured and won over the brave members of the Leon Sedov Brigade, who are the comrades who are present at this meeting from the very front lines of combat, and who are going to give us their testimonies of what they are suffering today. In one of the areas most plundered and battered by imperialism, in one of the richest areas, and also one of the most slandered by the world left and by the renegades of Trotskyism.
Then, the program of Trotskyism won over those who are today the leaders of the Leon Sedov Brigade, which had and has the pride of having been the only Trotskyist brigade to have fought side by side with the comrades in Libya and Syria, supporting the masses.
And with that program that seeks an International Revolutionary Party -which is what we owe ourselves and what we owe to the masses, that for its lack it was not possible to take power in the whole region, and for which we continue fighting, because we see that it was not for lack of courage of the masses, but too much betrayal of the leaderships.
Even today the masses are still fighting. We are facing a new 2011 in Syria, with a general uprising and while Russia, Iran, US imperialism, European imperialisms and all the left are slandering them, the masses continue in the streets.
I ask for a strong applause for the comrades who have refused to lower the banners of the revolution and continue today in combat.
