The US embassy and the transnationals discipline their agent Bolsonaro for him to recognize the opposition victory, while he goes on supporting the mobilized middle classes
Biden and the US embassy gave the order: Now it is Lula-Alckmin who govern
To finish disorganizing the workers’ ranks and impose the IMF plan
After days of political crisis, imperialism gave the order that it is time for Lula-Alckmin to be the new managers of its business in Brazil. For the bourgeoisie, to accept the disavowing of the elections that Bolsonaro wanted to impose would have meant a direct clash with the masses, with the possibility that the sectores of the working class that were controlled by the class collaboration front would burst in, something no bourgeois sector wanted to happen.
As Marxism puts it, Bonapartism or Fascism is the last of the bourgeoisie’s governments to maintain its power. There it risks everything. That is why it calls on its progressive “democratic” agent to disorganize the workers’ offensive before going for a decisive clash.
That is why we say that the US embassy gave the order and disciplined all its agents. It is Lula-Alckmin’s time. This is how the electoral tribunal quickly pronounced itself, while Bolsonaro’s supporters were demanding the armed forces to intervene, ignoring the result.
The capitalist class recognizes that it is pushing for a front of class collaboration with the workers’ organizations. It knows that they may see the “progressive” government as a friendly government and storm in with thousands of demands. It must therefore discipline its “progressive” agent. He must play to the script the role of disorganizing the workers’ offensive with sweet hollow phrases, “siren songs” and lip service, and attack the left wing of the proletariat.
For this to be so, and for each agent to play its role, the regime leaves the reactionary middle classes and broad sectors of Bolsonaro’s declassed followers on the streets. But fundamentally, as it is already doing, it prepares the sabre and whip of its generals and seeks to homogenize its officer caste to prevent any uprising by its slaves. This is what the reactionary mobilization of support for the generals organized by Bolsonaro is all about, and the early surrender of Lula who accepted that the generals count the votes by order of the Electoral Tribunal.
This was clearly stated by Trotsky in the face of the tragedy of the support of the reformist socialist parties and Stalinism for the republican bourgeoisie in Spain in the 1930s, which led to the massacre of the working class in that country at the hands of Francoism. Trotsky stated: “When the bourgeoisie is forced to sign a pact with the workers’ organizations through its left wing, it has more need than ever of its officer corps to counterbalance it, since what is at stake is the protection of private property, i.e., the most important thing”. (Leon Trotsky, “Letter to the IS-On the Popular Front in Spain)”. There is no doubt that today imperialism leaves the security of its business to Lula, under the control of the officer caste and the reactionary middle classes in the streets.
Lula gives guarantees to the ruling classes that he will make a government of national unity and defend every penny of imperialism in the central bank. Meirelles will be his finance minister, a big bourgeois from the Bank of Boston in Brazil, a man trusted by Wall Street and the City of London. Vice-President Alckmin is the man of the big bourgeoisie of São Paulo... And this not being enough, Lula affirmed after his victory that he was going “to govern for all Brazilians, with all the governors, and in parliamentary agreements and pacts with ‘the right’, which has an absolute majority in parliament”.
What a “progressive” government! They called on the masses to vote for a man who was supposed to fight for the workers, for freedom and for national independence, and what they got was a government of bankers and oligarchs, who will govern through deals with Bolsonarism in congress, supported by the armed forces and the most rancid of the bourgeois justice in Brazil. A full-fledged trap.
The Fourth International was forged in the 1930s fighting against this sinister policy of Stalinism’s of supporting “democratic imperialists” or “progressive governments”. How can we confront the capitalists and their governments and overthrow them with the method of civil war, if we treat the government of the day as “progressive” and “friendly”? Supporting these fronts means reneging on overthrowing them in a revolutionary way. A betrayal. Who gives even his little fingernail to the bourgeoisie “is selling his soul to the devil”.
As we say in the introduction to this work over Brazil, the liquidators of Trotskyism have left no trace of Bolshevism and the Fourth International. And they are preparing, with this new wave of class-collaborationist governments, agents of imperialism on the American continent, new defeats for the proletariat, if first a revolutionary party does not rise up to dispute reformism the winning of the most perceptive and advanced layers of the working class and the rebellious youth.
The working class must be prepared to break all subservience to the bourgeoisie and class-collaborationist governments! That is the only way for the proletariat to show, with a programme of attack on the property of the capitalists, imperialism and the IMF, that it, by expropriating the expropriators of the people, can solve the ruin of the middle classes and all the exploited strata of society. Such an independent policy of the proletariat would quickly empty the support that Bolsonaro and the reactionary forces in Brazil are counting on.
The interests of the working class and the bourgeoisie are divergent. On the key questions, they form a 180° angle and its joining can only paralyze the strength of the working class.
Our immediate struggle: fighting for an independent and revolutionary strategy for the Brazilian working class. The condition for victory is to break with the bourgeoisie and its capitalist parties that subjugate and isolate the working class from its allies in the countryside and the city. Forward to a workers’, peasants’ and popular unity!
To conquer the land, the roof and the bread; for the working class and the exploited to live, imperialism must die! IMF out! Imperialism out! The expropriators of the people must be expropriated!
We must unite the workers’ ranks and win an independent and revolutionary strategy for the Brazilian working class, which declares war on the collaborationist leaderships that submit them to their executioners and defend the interests of the transnationals.
Enough of the reformist and collaborationist left, servants of imperialism!
It is time to set up a revolutionary party, under the legacy of Leon Trotsky and the young Mario Pedrosa, one that takes up the struggles of the internationalist Trotskyists who in the 1930s left a great legacy to the Brazilian and Latin American working class. |
