International Correspondence #2
Towards the 7th Congress of the Collective for the Refoundation of the Fourth International / FLTI
Essential documents on the main international class struggle
acid tests from the last period
Introduction
We are presenting in this International Correspondence #2 a selection of statements and key political responses that our movement has given to the central acid tests of the international class struggle in the last 6 months.
These materials that we publish here for the 7th Congress are official documents of the FLTI and constitute an inseparable part of our programmatic baggage and the political and strategic heritage of our movement, along with other important documents prepared during the years 2023 and 2024.
This period, marked by a brutal imperialist counter-offensive and the catastrophe of the capitalist system, has been marked by counter-revolutionary wars of aggression and plunder; fierce inter-imperialist disputes, as could be seen in the question of Ukraine and in Palestine and the Middle East; and open clashes between revolution and counter-revolution on a world level, while the crisis of leadership has only become more acute with the definitive liquidation of the Fourth International and the creation of a new counter-revolutionary joint international of Stalinists and former Trotskyists.
Our current has produced hundreds of articles demonstrating the power of the program and strategy of Trotskyism. As part of that battle, we have selected these key documents to share with the workers and youth vanguard and the internationalist organizations with which we have been fighting in common, so that they can learn about the struggles that our current is waging and can participate in the debates of our 7th International Congress.
In this International Correspondence No. 2 we are presenting the following materials:
1) On the international conditions of the class struggle
Here we are publishing the key articles that round up the international situation and the US offensive, which is fighting to regain control of the global economy and politics that it began to lose after the 2008 crash and the successive rounds of crises that followed.
a) Letter to the 62nd Japan International Antiwar Assembly of July 30, 2024
Fierce imperialist counter-offensive attacking the working class and national oppression wars
The masses haven’t surrendered
The workers fight, their leaderships betray them
(Published in the IWO Special Supplement of August 16, 2024)
b) Statement on the balance of USA elections of November 7, 2024
Wall Street re-elects Trump
He is coming to carry Biden’s job all the way by doubling down on the attack on the working class and the plunder
of the oppressed peoples
(Published in IWO 45 of November 18, 2024)
c) Controversy with the PTS about the US on November 28, 2024
The PTS- Left Voice weeps about the defeat of Kamala Harris after the “right-wing” victory of Trump
2) Revolutionary Marxism and War
These documents address theoretical questions and fundamental aspects of the war, in a political struggle against the revisionism deployed by Stalinism and the renegades of Trotskyism.
Undoubtedly, the role of reformism in wars of national oppression is to place the working class in the trenches of the class enemy and subject it to its executioners, liquidating any struggle for national liberation and preventing any independent proletarian strategy.
These elaborations that we are publishing here are a continuation of the theoretical battle we have been waging around the Ukrainian, Palestinian, Syrian, etc. questions, as can also be seen in our newspaper “The International Workers Organizer” No. 39 of June 2023 entitled “Marxism and War”, which was written against the pseudo-intellectuals of the PTS who, far from the battlefield, are dedicated to throwing Stalinist poison around military issues to the working class.
Below you can find:
a)Speech by Carlos Munzer, member of the Editorial Board of “The International Workers Organizer”, at the International Conference entitled “Revolutionary Marxism and War” on November 2, 2024:
“Only the working class of Palestine, the Middle East and internationally, using the method of civil war and expropriating the businessmen and merchants of death, can ensure the victory of the war against the Zionist occupation
(Published in IWO 45 of November 18, 2024)
b) Statement on Ukraine of December 6, 2024
The missile and war clashes are intensifying, while Russia continues to bomb and conquer cities in the east. The hyenas are biting each other to better share the wealth and business of the oppressed nation over the blood of the Ukrainian people
An in-extremis negotiation among Zelensky, the US imperialism
and Putin to finish imposing the partition and plunder of Ukraine
3) The fight against the new “Progressive International” of Stalinists andrenegades of Trotskyism
The so-called “Progressive International”, the joint party of Stalinism and the former Trotskyists, has been centralizing its forces as a new obstacle for the world working class, organizing and coordinating its members’ counterrevolutionary actions.
Thus, during October 2024, they held a meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina, entitled “III Evento León Trotsky” (3rd Leon Trotsky Event), as a continuation of the one they had held in Havana in 2019.
We reproduce here the materials containing the fight of our current against that meeting of the “Progressive International”, which were published in “The International Workers Organizer” No. 45 of November 18, 2024:
a) The “III International León Trotsky Event” of former Trotskyists, pseudo socialists and Stalinists was held in Buenos Aires:
A reformist alchemy that seeks to liquidate the continuity of the Fourth International and the fight for the socialist revolution
b) Again on the Ukrainian question:
Reformism and war… Witch doctors and druids debating over medicine
c) Mr. Callinicos and his “masterly” opportunist politics
4) On the Black Question
Another central axis of intervention of our movement is alongside the black working class. Despite attempts by Reformism to silence it, the black proletariat has fought significant battles and has suffered enormous betrayals and stabs in the back.
Here we are publishing an interview with James S., leader of the WIL of Zimbabwe and Carlos Munzer, member of the editorial committee of “The International Workers Organizer”, on the 12th anniversary of the Marikana miners massacre in South Africa in August 2024, entitled:
South Africa: The miners’ struggle of 2012-2014 opened a phase of general strikes and revolutionary offensives of the South African labor movement
(Published in the IWO Special Supplement of August 16, 2024)
This interview provides a strategic view of the situation of the black working class not only in South Africa, but also throughout Southern Africa, and the perfidious actions of Stalinism throughout the black continent as the central guarantor of the imperialist plunder that bleeds white the region and of the businesses of a millionaire black bourgeoisie in a sea of slave workers.
This interview will also be published in the second edition of the book Marxism and the Black Question being prepared by Rudolph Klement Publishing House.
This new edition will also focus on responses to the convulsive events that have occurred after the first edition was published, such as the fighting in Kenya, the years of genocide in the Congo, the coups in sub-Saharan Africa or the huge revolt for bread currently featuring the masses of Mozambique.
In addition to the materials included in this International Correspondence, our current has committed itself to responding to the major events of the second Syrian revolution, which the reader can find in “The International Workers Organizer” No. 46 of December 27, 2024 that is available on our website.
As part of this fight of the Trotskyists in the Middle East, we will soon publish another edition of International Correspondence with the compilation of our central documents on the Palestinian question, from October 7, 2023 until now, together with the fundamental polemics with the renegades of Trotskyism on this subject. This compilation will also be published in a special edition by Rudolph Klement Publishing House.
A preview of it can be found on our website, entitled “Revolutionary Marxism and the Palestinian Question”, which is available by clicking here.
Alongside Ukraine, Syria and Palestine are central points of debate at our 7th Congress, as they once more raise the question of Marxism and war and establish a watershed moment between reform and revolution in the 21st century.
We hope that this International Correspondence will serve as a valuable resource for the debate on acid tests in the class struggle and we reiterate the invitation to all comrades, to the workers and youth with whom we fight together every day, to the sympathizers of our organization and to all the organizations with which we fight in common, to intervene in our Congress and deepen these debates. |
