Jujuy, Argentina - December 2023
December 12, 2023, International Day of the Persecuted Worker
Statement by comrade Mercedes Maidana, a teacher from Jujuy, for the acquittal of the Las Heras workers and the freedom of the Palestinian prisoners
The comrade was part of the Jujeñazo, today she is persecuted for fighting against the constitutional reform of Morales, the PJ and the US imperialists, and for going out to demand a decent wage, and has been prosecuted.
Like her, there are more teaching workers and workers from native communities in the province who are being threatened, persecuted and permanently harassed just for going out to demand what is just. They continue to demand:
Down with the reform.
Salaries up.
The same fight, the same enemy!
Stop persecuting workers for fighting!
Drop all charges now of all the Jujeñazo fighters!

“We demand the freedom of Palestinian political prisoners.
We demand the freedom of Cristian Díaz, persecuted for his defense of the rights of the Palestinian people.
We demand the acquittal of the oil workers of Las Heras.
In Jujuy we demand that no worker continue to be persecuted and harassed by this government, just as the outgoing government has done at the time.
We demand that the rights acquired by each of the workers be respected.
We demand that they stop the arbitrariness of these governments that are against the workers who, exercising their legitimate right to protest, have come out in this province since June 5 to denounce irregularities in relation to the constitutional reform and have also come out to demand a decent wage.”
