Petro: a new political swindle of a "pro-Gringos left" lackey of imperialism, like Stalinism at the time of Yalta and other renegades of Marxism
About the meeting of the head of the "Historical Pact" with US American businessmen
Just days before the first round of the presidential elections was held, during one of his campaign events, presidential candidate Gustavo Petro had a meeting with forty businessmen from United States organizations that invest in Colombia, to whom he gave absolute guarantees about their investing if he comes to power.
The businessmen are members of the Council of American Companies (CEA) and received a message of calm from the candidate of the Historical Pact that the productive sectors they represent will be protected in his eventual term. According to the candidate's campaign, there were representatives from Coca-Cola, PWC, World Vision, MetLife, Mercer, Honeywell, Hill+Knowlton Strategies, Eaton, Citi, Boston Scientific, Baker McKenzie, Baxter and 3M.
His promises in this event, demonstrated once more what had been already made evident by his European tour, i.e., that far from being anti-imperialist and "leftist," Petro is a guarantor of imperialism. He never tires of paying homage to prove that, in the case of winning the presidency, he will be the best applier of the former's plans to plunder the nation's resources and attack the Colombian masses as part of the advance of U.S. recolonization over its backyard.
As reported by the international bourgeois press, Petro as the leader of Human Colombia at the national level, has also promised legal security for multinationals; and although he "will reconsider certain approaches", he declared himself a defender and continuator of the FTA, a continental economic deal of brutal submission to US imperialism.
This earned him quick support from so-called “progressive” liberals with whom Petro rushed to meet while they guaranteed they would vote for him in the first round.
Petro's bourgeois front with Stalinism is supported by the renegades of Trotskyism who have long ago ceased to confront imperialism.
The LIT versus the LIT…
The Brazilian group of the International Workers' League - Fourth International, LIT-CI has been raising its criticism of the leadership of the PT* and PSOL ** and calling for breaking with the Lula-Alminck class collaboration front in the next elections in that country.
* (Workers' Party - Partido dos Trabalhadores)
** (Socialism and Freedom Party - Partido Socialismo e Liberdade)
In this sense, in their last statement they state: “The leadership of the PT and the PSOL, as well as the majority union centrals, simply bet on the victory of Lula-Alckmin and on the institutions of bourgeois democracy to “avoid the coup” … “The strategy of the majority currents, articulated around the leadership of the PT and PSOL, is electoral, within the institutions of bourgeois democracy. Everything is geared towards the October elections and they trust in justice, in Congress, in the Armed Forces. They never call for the self-organization of the movement and even less for its self-defense”.
"The bourgeois institutions do not deserve any confidence even to resist a coup attempt, and even less to defend the struggles of the workers." (On the need for self-defense of the masses and armament, May 19, 2022.)
Here in Colombia, the front of Petro's Historical Pact is a front within the institutions and the bourgeois regime that the Socialist Workers Party - PST, a Colombian group of the LIT-CI calls to vote "critically".
While in Brazil they call to break with the popular front, here they support this lackey of imperialism who presents himself as the continuation and reinsurance of the business of the transnational looters of the oppressed nation and the damned Uribist regime.
The LIT must explain to the LIT this position of calling to vote this bourgeois front in the name of socialism, as it has been doing by supporting the class collaboration fronts in the rest of the continent from the left, and that it is none other than the political of Stalinism in support of the “progressive” bourgeoisie and “democratic” imperialism.
They did this in Latin America with Castillo and his military bases, they voted for Boric, the man from the Pinochetista Army who has just militarized the south of Chile. The LIT reproaches the PSOL for its calling to vote for Lula in Brazil, but throughout the continent it supports the class conciliation fronts with the bourgeoisie the same as or worse than the PSOL in Brazil.
We the internationalist Trotskyists of Comuneros who fight under the clean banners of the Fourth International will repeat a thousand times that we cannot allow the PST that claims to be Trotskyist to support a regime of class collaboration that endorses a reconciliation with the Uribista generals, the police and the ESMAD and that covers up the traitors of the Stalinist labor bureaucracies and aristocracies who sold out our fight.
The LIT has accounts to render before the Latin American and world proletariat about this perfidious policy which have cost so many betrayals and defeats to our class.
