Huge devastation in Darna after Cyclone Daniel

THE STATE, THE CAPITALISTS AND THEIR GOVERNMENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE!

Storm Daniel hit the coastal line of eastern Libya, and in particular the city of Darna. The flooding of the rivers caused the destruction of two dams Al Bilad and Abu Mansur, which had not been properly maintained and were built with a core of clay and compacted stones, which is why the dams collapsed! The state, the capitalists and their governments were responsible for it!

This left an estimated 13,000 dead, among them many Egyptian workers and refugees from sub-Saharan countries, and thousands more missing in the biggest floods of the last decade. The floodwaters devastated the town of Darna and almost all its infrastructure, forcing more than 40,000 displaced people who have received a pittance as humanitarian aid.

As the waters have receded, the reality of the people of Darna comes to the surface. Villagers are searching under the mud for their loved ones. The situation worsens with each passing day. Illnesses from the bodies still under the mud are surfacing and the corpses of thousands of villagers are floating on the low waters bathing the seashore. This situation puts the survivors at risk as there is no infrastructure in place to alleviate the health crisis, and infections are on the rise.

While the masses are sinking deeper and deeper into misery, in a Libya torn apart by the business of the capitalists, the imperialist oil companies are taking juicy profits from one of the most oil-rich countries in the world. The plunder of the imperialist powers is brutal; they amass fortunes and not even handouts are left for Libya's infrastructure.

Thousands of Darna demonstrators marched to the cry of "the people want the fall of the parliament" (the eastern government) and then marched to the mayor's house and set it on fire. They know who the real culprits are.

For a workers' emergency plan for a way out of the catastrophe!

Expropriation of all the oil companies and banks to put them into production and finance the needs of the people! The funds are there to implement this plan and to be able to rebuild the houses of the thousands of people affected by the deluge and the floods.

Housing now for the families that have been left with nothing, through the expropriation of the bourgeoisie's leisure housing!
