Interview with Betty Aguilar, sister of Sonia Aguilar Quispe, murdered in Macusani - Puno on January 18, 2023 by Dina Boluarte's police

“We are very sad. Two years later, there is no justice. There are no detainees. We are commemorating our brethren from January 9. And we will never be silent. Until we achieve justice we will go on fighting because the people are united. The fellows have already woken up. The people have already woken up. We will be fighting until we achieve justice.

“On January 18 we will also be commemorating our brothers and sisters from Macusani (in Carabaya): Sonia Aguilar Quispe and Salomon Valenzuela Chua.  We invite all of Peru and internationally to this day of struggle on January 18th, when we will be commemorating our martyrs…

Journalists and all the people in general are cordially invited. We will be receiving you with open arms until justice is achieved, brethren…

Today we are also in Juliaca commemorating our 18 siblings who have also been massacred in two hours. It is not possible: there is not a single arrest. Therefore, let there be justice and let all those responsible pay: Dina Boluarte who is a murderer, the pro-coup Congress and all those involved. No to impunity.

We are the echo of those who are no longer here. We will be there with our voice. We will be fighting until justice is achieved. Thank you very much.”
