Gates of the ‘human slaughterhouse’ at Damascus' Sadnaya prison open, thousands of political prisoners are freed
The hell of Sadnaya prison in Damascus is over! This real human slaughterhouse is known worldwide for being one of the worst torture centers of fascist Assad. More than 30,000 political prisoners are estimated to have been inside there, although the exact number is unknown because clandestine detention and torture centers also operated in its basements where they locked up the disappeared up to the moment they were killed and left lying around until nothing was left but their bones.
The so-called “Red Building,” a wing of this prison, is the most infamous of all, a veritable human slaugtherhouse of torture that would make the Nazi Gestapo turn pale.
But now, with the masses entering Damascus and opening the prisons, Assad is fleeing like a rat and thousands upon thousands of prisoners are regaining their freedom. Full of scars, traumas and wounds that may not heal completely because the torture was so brutal. However, they show such a joy in their celebrations no one could take away from them. They return to their homes, to their families, to feel open air, to see daylight.
Among the thousands of prisoners released, there are some who have already been imprisoned for more than 40 years by Hafez Assad, Bashar's father. Such is the case of Ragheed Ahmed Tatri, a warplane pilot who refused to follow the criminal regime's orders to bomb Hama in 1982 to crush that uprising. He was 27 years old when he was imprisoned, now he is almost 70.
The reformist left worldwide has remained deathly silent on all this. They have allowed all the arrests, detentions, torture, disappearances and murders of the Assads and Putin against the Syrian people to take place without a word. They are the ones who covered the backs of these butchers so that they could impose a genocide to drown the 2011 revolution in blood.
They have a stain on their forehead for this betrayal, not only to the Syrian exploited, but also to the world working class, in particular to the Palestinian people. This reformist left has been passing off these genocidaires as allies, when in fact they never lifted a finger to liberate Palestine but dedicated themselves to murdering, imprisoning and torturing the masses who really do, as can be seen in the marches in Idlib, Aleppo and Damascus where the Palestinian flags are raised.
There will be no forgetting nor forgiving!
