Statement by the Ukrainian Social Movement organization
against the war crimes of Putin and also the terrible attacks suffered launched by Zelensky government to the workers in the rearguard
We reproduce below the statement of the Ukrainian Social Movement organization, in which it denounces the war crimes committed against the workers by Putin's invasion, and also the terrible attacks suffered by the exploited masses and in particular the workers by the Zelensky government, a lackey of imperialism, in the rearguard.
Zelensky is putting the nation at the feet of NATO and handing it over to the Ukraine partition pact that imperialism is already preparing with Putin.
Therefore, the working class, uniting itself from Donbass to Kyiv, must take political and military control of the war and carry out the program of social revolution to defeat the invasion and liberate Ukraine.
Ukraine will be either Soviet and independent or a divided and guarded colony.

Statement of the Ukrainian Social Movement organization
Special operation against workers: In 2024, the Russian Federation killed more workers than in previous years.
At least 228 deaths in industrial accidents have been attributed to Russian aggression in 2024, 33 more deaths than in 2023 and 10 more deaths than in 2022. The result is record-breaking statistics for the time of the invasion, including:
Ambulance hunting with drones in the Kherson region;
Rocket attacks against industry in Donetsk, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions;
Destruction of hospitals in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia;
Airstrikes against utility and energy workers in Sumy province.
According to labor protection experts, about 50% of workplace deaths are caused by Russian militarism.
Another 734 workers were injured by rioters. So, in total, almost a thousand people doing their jobs were injured due to armed attacks last year alone. The price paid by the Ukrainian workforce for Ukraine independence is enormous.
The published figures testify to the systematic terror against the Ukrainian people by the Moscow imperialists, who do not count the losses among the civilian population. Unable to win a decisive victory on the battlefield, the Rashists want to break the backbone of Ukraine by shooting engine drivers, electricians and nurses. The vast majority of the victims can be classified as employees of critical infrastructure facilities. The methodical attacks, due to their consequences, lead to the strengthening of Ukraine's deindustrialization and the the inability to satisfy urgent public needs.
However, while we condemn the cruelty of Putin's inhumanes, we should not be silent about the inability of the neoliberal state to respond to the challenges of the times. Firstly, due to the legislative moratorium, labour inspectors hardly monitor the state of labour protection, whereas in wartime they should have to fully monitor the provision of shelters by companies and the compliance by employers with the air raid warning regime. Secondly, assistance to victims and their families remains ineffective. The Ministry of Social Policy and the PFU (Pension Fund of Ukraine) sabotaged the implementation of Law No. 2980 on payments to injured workers of the OKI: in three years, at best, dozens of families received the promised one-time cash assistance, although in 2024 alone, hundreds of critically important workers were affected!
This war is not only about the struggle for an independent state, but also for a dignified life for all those who work for the benefit of Ukrainian society. In order to restore faith in Ukraine as a social state, it is urgently necessary to:
Provide benefits in accordance with Law No. 2980 to all persons employed in critical infrastructure sectors, and in the event of death, to their families.
Resume labour inspections while respecting the right to safe working conditions, primarily at OKI and in frontline territories.
Directing corporate profits to equip them with safety equipment that minimizes mortality.
The "social movement" will remain inflexibly on the side of the workers, since it is they who bring victory to Ukraine en masse.
Eternal respect for the dead! Punish the occupiers! What a shame the traitorous politics!
LETTER FROM THE SOCIAL MOVEMENT TO THE FLTI
January 11, 2025
Dear Nadia and Eliza,
Thank you very much for the timely information. Contact with you allows us to stay up to date with political life around the world. Special thanks for the information from Colombia and Argentina regarding the persecution of labor activists.
We are also glad that the material about workplace mortality from Putin's aggression has attracted your attention. With this material we want not only to express regret, but also to convince leftists around the world that Putin does not take into account the losses among the civilian population and, above all, the industrial working class of Ukraine is becoming his main victim. Because having lost engineering, energy and medicine, our state will not be able to resist the aggressor. Given the elections in the US, Ukraine has nowhere to expect help except from within.
At the same time, I would like to express some friendly remarks. We are trying to refrain from making loud statements about the situation in Ukraine so as not to contribute to the isolation of our country in the face of aggression. In particular, we do not consider it appropriate to accuse President Zelensky of betraying NATO interests, as this is a topic for a separate discussion. The Ukrainian authorities are indeed trying to enlist the support of strong powers and split the imperialists (Putin and Trump), but the prospects for integration into NATO are hypothetical at the moment. There are practically no practical steps behind individual rhetorical statements.
We believe that the position of the Ukrainian authorities can be described through the prism of the anti-colonial struggle. The fight against Russian imperialism should be a priority, and criticism of the Ukrainian authorities should concern their actions, not symbolic statements. The working class of Ukraine should prepare for a gradual gain of influence, since it is not ready to radically change the situation. Fortunately, the political situation in Ukraine remains generally favorable to socio-political activity, but the very ability of the working class to use democratic tools should be strengthened.
We would be grateful for any specific questions you may have that would clarify our position and help spread interest in the situation in Ukraine.
Bestregards,
Vitalii |
