Madrid, Spanish State - March 17 th, 2018
7th ANNIVERSARY OF THE SYRIAN REVOLUTION
CHRONICLE OF THE RALLY IN MADRID
On the 7thanniversary of the Syrian revolution, as part of the actions carried out in the world, such as in London, France, Ireland, Germany, Argentina, Bolivia, etc, more than 300 people met in Puerta del Sol in Madrid the last March 17.
We wanted our message to reach Syria and that is why on cardboards written in Arabic it could be read: "From Spain to the brave Syrian people", while the main banner of the rallyincluded one of the central slogans of the Syrian revolution written: "The people want the fall of the regime. Free Syria" "Let's stop the genocide against the Syrian people."
This rally organized by the “Committee x Syria in Madrid”, “Union of the Syrian People” and “Land and Cultures NGO”. Besides Syrian activists and refugees, the political organizations “DemocraciaObrera” y “SolialismoLibertario” also participated. The rally was called to denounce the brutal genocide that Bashar Al Assad and his allies against the exploited Syrianshave committed for seven years. We denounce there the bloodthirsty siege that lives Ghouta and Idlib, where cluster bombs and phosphorus do not cease raining daily killing tens and hundreds of children, men and women.
We gather there, in the emblematic Puerta del Sol, hundreds of Syrians, Moroccans, Spaniards and of different nationalities, so that our cries of "You are not alone!" can reach the brave Syrian people who resist in their last trenches.
We had the greeting of Sirin Adlib Sibai, a well-known Spanish-Syrian activist who, from the beginning of the revolution, has protested. She denounced "(...) We have completed 7 years of revolution, 7 years that for the world have ruined all the veils about the reality of what was happening in our land and in the entire region. The Syrian revolution today is not simply the rise of a dignified people against a crazy dictator, it is not an isolated struggle, but the struggle of a defenseless people against a global, capitalist, racist, patriarchal, colonial, Christian-focused and western-focused. The global looting and genocide system of three quarters of humanity that has been ruling the world for more than 500 years. That is why the world has turned our seven years of revolution into seven years of genocide, into seven years of massacre. (...) ".
From Japan we also received the greetings of workers and youth of the JRCL-RMF and Zengakuren that we read in the rally and was applauded by all present. The combative workers and students of Japan marched to the US embassy and the offices of the prime minister in Tokyo last Sunday. During the march some slogans were sung: "We denounce the massacre in Ghouta and other rebel cities by the Assad regime, backed by Putin's Russia! We repudiate the bloody military interventions of US imperialism and the rulers of Russia, Turkey and Iran! We denounce the occupation of Zionist Israel to Palestine! We denounce the US recognition of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital! We oppose a military attack on North Korea by US imperialism led by Trump, along with Japanese imperialism led by Abe! Let's stop a Korean nuclear war with the united power of the working peoples of the US, Japan and Korea! "
Also from the newspaper of the Syrian socialists "The Truth of the Oppressed" they sent us an audio in Arabic “Greetings and honors to all gathered there on this seventh anniversary of the blessed Syrian revolution, which stood up against the oppressors. We thank all those who stand up and fight against those who slaughter our brothers and sisters every day in Syria and in the sieged Ghouta. Thanks to all those present, Arabs and Spaniards, who support the revolution, who gathered to honor this 7th anniversary of the Syrian revolution. And a call to all those who are there today, to rise up and fight against oppression, against Bashar Al Assad, Putin and Iran, all dogs.(...)” This greeting was received with great emotion by all and ended with applause and shouts of "Long live the Syrian revolution!".
A billboard brought from several kilometers away from Madrid by Syrian comrades showed in giant photos the pain and horror that the Syrians have lived for seven years. Dozens of handmade posters denounced that "It is not a war, it is a genocide", "No one is free when others are oppressed", also a banner that said "Out with Assad, Russia, Turkey, USA and all the invading troops".
It is worth highlighting the support of dozens of Palestinians who came with their flags to join their struggle against the Zionist occupier to the struggle of the Syrian revolution against Bashar al-Assad. The fight for the freedom of the political prisoners was present in the rally, you could see posters for the freedom of SammerIssawi and the more than 7,000 Palestinian prisoners, as well as for the freedom of AhedTamimi and the 350 children who are in the Zionist jails, but this was the same struggle for the freedom of the more than 40,000 political prisoners in the dungeons of Bashar al Assad.
"One class, one fight!"
Different people spoke to expreass their solidarity with the struggle of the Syrian people, Moroccan women were excited while the megaphone shouted "Every dead child is our child!" Or "Assad, killing and the world, watching!".
One of the most emotional and powerful moments was when one of Syrian comrades began to sing the emblematic song of the Syrian revolution, by the author Qashoush, a Syrian activist who was killed by Bashar's dogs who in revenge ripped the throat. Today,Qashoush is called "the nightingale of the revolution".
The throats of all those present in Puerta del Sol made the effort so that "Yallairhalya Bashar!" "Go away, Bashar!" was heard loudly.
It was a huge day to denounce the genocide that Assad and Putin, under the command of the US, are carrying out against the heroic Syrian people.
But the struggle continues every day also against those who in the name of the workers and socialism support the genocidal Bashar or turn their backs on the Syrian masses.
Long live the struggle of the Syrian people!
