We present below a response to a note that was sent to our comrades from DemocraciaObrera - Barcelona, by David Turpin, from the United States. In his note, he asks for convincing evidence that the US is commanding the intervention in Syria.
He seems to forget that the United States has already intervened in Syria: invading Raqa and Deir ez Zor, massacring the civilians of those cities, reducing their buildings to rubble, and then keeping them and their surroundings directly, which is where all the oil wells in Syria are. Moreover, the US government said it had military bases and airports in northern Syria and its own NATO ally, Erdogan, revealed the location of at least 10 of them. That is to say, the USA established a military command in the field, from which it commanded the operations.
As if this were not enough proof of US intervention in Syria, today Trump is announcing that he will "withdraw" his troops. A confession of part, relief of evidence, that is, if Trump has to withdraw troops is because he has them there. But this would not seem to be enough for Turpin, who continues to ask for evidence of US coordination in the genocide of the Syrian people.
And it is not just about him, but the same position is raised by the group of the Alliance of Syrian and Iranian Socialists, to which he adheres, as well as the French NPA, to which this group belongs.
They only demand that the "International Community" in general intervene. In this way all they do is to ask the UN for humanitarian aid, when it is taking the survivors of Ghouta drained of all their assets to live in tents in the middle of nowhere. And in the same way he asks the governments of all the countries that intervene, including Qatar and the fascist Saudi monarchy, which command FSA generals who are in Geneva and have handed over the rebellious cities.
How can you ask the "international community" to intervene in Syria, if within the "international community" we can find the Saudi clan that massacred Yemen today as it did yesterday in Bahrain, equally or worse than Assad?
While Turpin says he has not opted for a military camp for any group, we can see how he has actually sided with the bourgeoisie of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the kinglets of Bahrain and the generals of the FSA.
Calling for the "international community" in general ends up being, for Turpin, that the UN and the United States intervene in Syria, in the same way as for their NPA partners, in a statement of 13/03, when they state that "the population of Afrin and the YPG call for help and we must go to him "to criticize later " that the French government remained passive and did nothing to stop the massacre announced."
There is something that is very clear in everyone's positions ... the enemy is never home to them. They refuse to face their own imperialist bourgeoisie.
The gangs of the imperialist oil companies and their governments and armies will not go to Syria to help the masses, just the opposite. They are going to plunder the wealth, to control their territory, to impose more massacre, destruction and barbarism as they have always done. Asking your own imperialism, as the NPA does, to go to Syria to help the masses is to be a left-wing supporter of its own imperialist oil companies like the Total to loot the oil of the Middle East and have a greater share in business of the bloodied Syria, which the US has kept.
This discussion and this first response is not because of the importance of this nucleus of 4 or 5 from Chicago, but because they raise the position of their bosses of the French NPA.

Comrade Turpin:
One of our comrades in Barcelona has sent us a note that you have written to her and we wanted to send you some concerns and worries regarding the positions that are expressed in the note you sent her. We believe that on these points we have discussed extensively both by Skype and by letters, but we want to clarify some in particular.
You say in your note "Neither is it true nor is it necessary to assert that Assad and Putin are operating with orders from the United States; it is enough to observe the reality that the campaign of genocide in Syria passes with the approval of US imperialism."
We believe that it is already an undeniable reality that in Syria, those who command and coordinate the counterrevolutionary actions from Geneva are the Yankees. We have given more than enough data in our statements, but we are going to stop in some of them so that there are no doubts.
Before the Sochi conference, Trump met Putin at the APEC summit. He named him a "great ally to fight against terrorism in Syria" and then went publicly to recognize what was going on behind the scenes with Obama: that they are coordinating the counterrevolutionary attacks on the Syrian masses, and sought to reach their final victory before the end. of year. This was said by Trump, making it clear that it is US imperialism that coordinates military actions in Syria.
They whitewash that they have more than 10 military bases and airports in northern Syria, in the Kurdish region known as "Rojava", because the PKK opened the doors for them. There they have at least 2,000 Marines posted. With their generals directly on the ground, they are the ones who command attacks and massacres in the last trenches of the revolution.
Everyone has seen how the United States has retained the territorial control of a large part of Syria, especially the provinces of Raqa and Deirez Zor, which are the oil zones. The US has remained directly with all the Syrian oil.
In recent years Geneva has been fully operational and guarantees that Al Assad can massacre. From there the skies are liberatedfor Russia to bomb. There the pact of Russia, Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia was made to hand over all the rebellious cities.
Today, after seven years, it has become more than clear that Putin and Assad are not anti-imperialists, but that they did the dirty work on behalf of imperialism.
Today's Syria has been colonized and its territory divided ... with sectors that are controlled by the Yankees directly, with Al Assad in Damascus, with Turkey occupying a part of the passage of its trade routes and with areas that are still being negotiated by the different wings of the Sunni bourgeoisie. But they are all forces of Geneva... they all endorse the United States.
We want to stop especially when you say "I reject the assertion that the United States gives orders to Assad and Putin because it lacks fundamentals, it is not even possible to put it to the test of empirical evidence, and because I think the motivation for the assertion is to reject without facing with frank discussion the appeals of the Syrian people for a humanitarian intervention".And further on you say in his note: "The UN, the United States and European imperialism have abandoned the Syrians to genocide, and we must denounce their complicity in crime, but is it right to ignore their demands for "Save Ghouta" and for humanitarian intervention?"
We have read several times this point that you raise so as not to make any mistake of interpretation and to be able to really answer your true arguments.
Do you mean that the United States will take humanitarian aid to Ghouta and that, in addition, according to you, that’s what the Syrians believe, they, who that have been surrounded and massacred there for years?
We do not know a single Syrian who believes that the US will bring humanitarian aid, we know hundreds and hundreds of videos and photos of Syrians, for example, refugees who rejected the food sent to them by the UN because they did not want to receive anything from those who were slaughtering them.
We know videos of Syrians a week ago when a convoy of humanitarian aid arrived in the east of Ghouta, they shouted: "We do not want your help, you do not come to help us, you are part of those who kill us, the only thing what we want is for them to stop killing us!"That’s what a crying man shouted while showing a missile that had fallen that same day killing a nephew of his. What the Syrian people are asking is that the massacre be stopped, they do not ask for humanitarian aid from the US or any other government of any country because they have already spent seven years of genocide and they know that nobody "helped" them more than with phosphorus bombs, missiles and chlorine gas.
When the Syrian people say "Save Ghouta", they do not ask the US to send humanitarian aid, what they are doing is a desperate call to the international struggle in support of the Syrian revolution.
They are calling on the exploited of the world to lead the fight to break the siege and stop the massacre. They are calling for the workers and workers' organizations of the US, Russia, Turkey, etc. to rise up and fight against those who murder their children day and night.
"Save goutha" is the demand of the Syrian resistance and its vanguard to join the fronts of all the militias and go to fight against Damascus.
On this seventh anniversary of the Syrian revolution the women, men and children who are resisting in the last trenches of Ghouta and Idlib shouted loudly the motto with which their revolution began "The people want the fall of the regime".
There is no Syrian who believes the lie that the US, that is, the intellectual author of the genocide in Syria, who sent ISIS to destroy the revolution, while with Putin and Assad bombed and massacred, can send humanitarian aid.
We are with the brave Syrian and American fighters who on the 7th anniversary of the Syrian revolution took to the streets of New York with the cry of "United Nations to kill us!".
What would you do if they try to kill your children, rape your wife and want to take her home? Would not you defend yourself? Would you accept a glass of milk or a packet of rice from the same ones that slaughtered you? Surely he would not, as the Syrian people and the Palestinian people do not.
There is not a single Syrian who believes that the United Nations or the United States will take humanitarian aid. They believe that all the governments of the world left them alone to be killed like dogs, to be bombarded by Russia, Iran, Turkey and the US as they have done during these seven years. The Syrian people, crying out for justice and revenge, shout: "Where is the world? Where are the Arab peoples?" They do not shout "Where is the UN with its humanitarian aid?" Because they saw it fall in the form of bombs killing their children for years.
In your note you state: "Leaving aside the reality that the demand for "opening the fronts” is not useful to build a movement of solidarity, because it does not respond to the reality that the European and American people have not even reached to express the slightest sympathy for the suffering of the Syrian people, and therefore can not have any interest in supporting the armed struggle against Assad, I am personally distressed by the demand, I can not demand that the Syrian people sacrifice more. "
The demands of the masses in their struggle, particularly in the Syrian revolution, have been and are milestones of a revolutionary program.
On February 15, hundreds of women took to the streets in Idlib, with their nikab, with their veils, with their pain to shout to the world that they can not stand such a massacre and ask that the fronts be opened to go to fight against Damascus. They said: "We are the women and daughters of this nation. We want the regime to fall. We ask the young people where they are. We want the brigades to come together (...) We are the women of this nation and this is our land (...) here we are and the enemy must be confronted (...) Where is each young man? Let them come, let them come ... With God's permission we will achieve victory. We are in Idlib. Let them come and let a single army form the nation ... Why? We are Muslims. To our brothers we say: where are you? Enough! Enough! Enough! If the army of the regime came to enter the city, they will rape all young women and girls. (…)”
These are the heroic women of the Syrian revolution who have been raped, their children and husbands killed and today continue to be bombed. They are the brave women whom the Islamophobic left want backward. They are the vanguard of the revolution and today they ask that the fronts be opened because they want the fall of the regime, that is the "humanitarian aid" they ask for.
They know that if Assad, Putin, Turkey or the US enter, what awaits them is the fate of hundreds of thousands of martyrs or even jail, where as in AbruGaib as in Sednaya, they would be tortured to death.
You, like currents like the English SWP and the alliance of the socialists of Iran and the Middle East, have already regarded the Syrian revolution as defeated and your main program has become that of humanitarian aid from the United States and the UN. We insist, the only humanitarian aid that arrived in Syria, was the refugees who, abroad, as they could and with the help of other exploited, collected what they could from blankets, mattresses, food and medicines to send to the camps. refugees.
Here in Madrid the AAPS (Syrian People's Aid Association) has sent almost 100 containers full of humanitarian aid inside Syria, to Aleppo, Idlib, even Ghouta. We were honored to help load several of those trucks that brought the solidarity of the exploited to the Syrian resistance.
Today the Syrian masses continue to fight in the last trenches, they continue to give up their lives to defend themselves against this genocide and continue to call on the workers of the world to fight for them.
They know that they have the help of the more than 15,000 million internal and external refugees who live in tents or in the concentration camps that the Syriza government has set up in Greece.
They know that the everyday forces to fight.are in the cellars and tunnels of the fenced Ghouta and the beleaguered Idlib.
The masses in Syria also know that they need the help of the workers of the United States to shout again today, as they did yesterday with the war in Iraq and Afghanistan: The enemy is at home!
We insist, the cry and the demand of the masses of "Save Ghouta", is a call for the workers of the world to open their fronts and rise up in a single fight to stop the Syrian genocide and for the triumph of the revolution. We believe that it is a duty of all those who call ourselves socialists and revolutionaries to come to this call.
In solidarity,
Paula and Benito
