September 8th
International day of struggle for the freedom of the Syrian revolution prisoners
Rally-tribute in Buenos Aires
Speech of Federico Espinosa, from the Committee in support of Syria of Argentina
“After imposing the genocide in Syria, imperialism is generalizing the conditions of the masses in Syria and Maghreb and Middle East to the entire planet. This is expressed in the brutal war against the world working class to impose labour flexibilization...”
In this rally-tribute we wanted to affirm that Idlib is not the only trench of the revolution left. The demonstrations we saw yesterday in Idlib are being staged against the Shiite bourgeoisie, linked to the Iranian ayatollahs, in the south of Iraq, in Basra, where there is a true revolt of the masses against the conditions of misery that the US protectorate is imposing there, where the exploited live above a sea of oil and do not have drinkable water.
In Iran too, the masses, again and again, take to the streets against the regime of the Iranian ayatollahs, partners of imperialism in the region, oppressors of the Iranian masses and murderers of the Syrian masses.
It is the same battle in the whole region against the same enemy: the “seven sisters”, the imperialist oil companies that plunder a region from where they extract 80% of the oil for the transnational companies to operate in the world. That is why the Syrian revolution was a link in the same chain of revolutions that shook the Maghreb and the Middle East.
Imperialism had concentrated its forces in Syria to stop this chain of revolutions. They succeeded in imposing hard defeats to the proletariat of the Middle East. They succeeding in putting the Syrian revolution to the resistance and in a defensive position. After imposing the genocide in Syria, today imperialism is generalizing the conditions of the masses in Syria and the Maghreb and Middle East to the entire planet. This is expressed in the brutal war against the world working class to impose labour flexibilization and in the fact that in the semicolonial world everything produced by the working class goes to pay the foreign debts, that is, to the treasuries of the IMF and the US Federal Reserve. They are imposing and redoubling the plundering of natural resources in all the semi-colonies, at a time when the world market has shrunk and the different imperialist gangs are fiercely contesting the spheres of influence in the world.
The trade war of the imperialist powers is first of all a class war against the working class. In Argentina, the attack of Macri's pro-imperialist government is part of this offensive to generalize the conditions of the counterrevolution in Syria and the Middle East to the Argentinean working class, as also to all the Latin American workers.
The demonstrations in Idlib, those in southern Iraq, those in Iran, are part of the response of the world working class to this imperialist offensive. They are sisters of the struggle of the European working class, like the French workers who face the labour flexibilization plans of Macron government. They are sisters of the battle of the Argentinean working class, of the workers of the shipyards, of Agroindustry, of the teachers and students...
In particular, these mass demonstrations in Idlib highlight the great lies that the world leftist currents have said for more than seven years against the Syrian revolution in order to poison the working class of the world.
A sector of Stalinism and many of those who claim to be Trotskyists said too much that Al Assad was “anti-imperialist” and that he had to be supported. They told the masses of the world that the oppressed who revolted in Syria for bread and freedom against the regime were “NATO ground troops”, “jihadists”, “terrorists”, echoing the Islamophobia with which imperialism legitimized the massacre in Syria.
In addition, the Syrian masses had to suffer that other currents of the left said that in Syria there was a war between “two reactionary camps”, when on the one side there are the exploited that already had more than 700,000 dead and on the other side there are all the counterrevolutionary actors concentrated to defeat the revolution.
All these leaderships do not want the workers of the world to know that Al Assad, Putin and the Iranian Ayatollahs, like the US, Turkey and the FSA generals, operate in a common operation room against the masses, which is the Geneva conference of the UN and the meetings of Astana, Sochi, etc., which for 7 years have defined that Al Assad continues to massacre. From there the counterrevolution, led by the US, operates.
Today the masses of Idlib show that the revolution is still alive and thus expose that it was the treacherous leaderships of the working class, with their siege, lies and slanders, that prevented the world working class from going to aid the Syrian masses and in self-defense. In short, thanks to their role, Al Assad, Putin and the US were able to carry out such counterrevolutionary actions.
