Massive bombings in southern Idlib
A new massacre of Al Assad and Putin to crush Syrian resistance’s focus
It has been a week of massive bombings of Al Assad and Putin over the southern and south-eastern Idlib. The strikes continue. Over 40 towns were bombed. Most of these towns are in the south and south east of Idlib and northern Hama, and they are not under control of Al Assad, Putin, the US or Zionism. They are part of the last trenches and strongholds of the revolution.
Not only they strike with missiles and cluster bombs but also they have dropped barrel bombs again, killing and wounding tens and tens, and causing new displacements, while their homes are destroyed and they look for shelter in other cities. Besides the airstrikes, Bashar’s army besieges and attacks, trying to enter towns in northern Hama, in the border with Idlib province.
In September last year Putin and Erdogan made a conference in Sochi and agreed to have a “demilitarized buffer zone” in the area that is being bombed today. They wanted to ensure the disarming of the masses and the control of Idlib. This also meant that Russian troops would enter to many rebel cities, as the agreement was that they would be “interposition troops” together with Turkey.
This counterrevolutionary plan was never applied. At that time, the masses in Idlib took to the streets against the bombings of Al Assad to release their prisoners from the regime’s claws; against the “demilitarized buffer zone”; and against the leaders of all the brigades that had accepted such sellout agreement. These actions of thousands and thousands marching every Friday in every rebel city defeated –temporarily- their counterrevolutionary offensive attempts. Their war cry was “Open the fronts” and “Unite the brigades” to defeat Al Assad.
However, the opposite happened. The fronts against Al Assad were not opened and instead of unifying the combats, the brigades confronted each other inside Idlib to see who would control which area and run businesses there. So there was a military clash between HTS (former Al Nusra) and several FSA brigades until HTS won and imposed their control over every city. They took the masses off the streets. Idlib remained under HTS control, which at the same time made a pact with Turkey, which have set up 12 military outposts surrounding that area. Today HTS collects taxes on the starved masses of Idlib, who have to work 12 hours a day to be able to buy the basic goods, such as tea and bread, and anyone who even questions HTS is imprisoned, while they just do nothing before the current attack of Al Assad.
Thus, the bombings over southern Idlib returned, which have been increasing after the meeting Putin and Erdogan had some weeks ago in Russia, where besides discussing businesses, they reaffirmed what they call “alliance against terrorism in Idlib”, and this is what we are witnessing with this new massacre.
Today’s attacks come them from those international conferences… which are not just Sochi, but the ones that have been held for years in Geneva and Astana by Putin, Al Assad, Turkey, the FSA bourgeois generals (now also HTS) under US command. From there, the genocide and the sellout of each rebel city made by the FSA generals were coordinated.
All of them were supported by the treacherous leaderships of the world working class (union bureaucracies, Stalinists and renegades of Trotskyism) which besieged this revolution and mostly supported the dog Bashar, making workers of the world believe that the terrorists were dying there (not the masses), stating that “ISIS in the enemy”… not imperialism or those who made their dirty work, like Al Assad and Putin. They made the exploited of the world see their allies as their enemies and their enemies as allies. They left Al Assad and Putin an open road to massacre and the Sunnite bourgeoisie to sell out that great revolution from within.
This way we reached the current situation, where the masses in Idlib were taken off from the streets. HTS imposed its control there and took part of the counterrevolutionary conference of Geneva. Al Assad and Putin attack the remaining focuses of the Syrian resistance. Meanwhile, millions of Syrian exploited are in tents in refugee camps in the borders -true ghettoes in the middle of nowhere- with no water or food and in terrible sanitary conditions. They are exposed to harsh weather conditions, floods, diseases and NGO’s blackmail. In the mean time, the masses starved in Idlib and in the areas occupied by Al Assad, who has now imposed a fuel hike, sky-rocketing the cost of living.
Meanwhile, Syria was partitioned: US imperialism occupying the oil fields and the north and east; Zionism occupied the Golan Heights; Turkey kept the trade and oil pipe routes in the north; and Al Assad, reinforced with Putin’s bayonets, is controlling and crushing the capital city, Damascus, plus other Syrian cities. Headed byUS imperialism, they are sharing the businesses deals, even discussing reconstruction, over the basis of the genocide of hundreds and hundreds of thousands of Syrian exploited.
The entire reformist left that besieged the Syrian revolution is silent today… an accomplice silence to hide and keep on allowing the current massacre of Al Assad and Putin in southern Idlib, where the resistance that fights back the attacks of the Assadists army is.
We will not forget nor forgive those who betrayed the Syrian revolution and openly supported the genocide made by the executioners!
