Tribute in the 4th anniversary of Abu Al Baraa's death
From Colombia
Speech by Cheo, former member of the Simón Bolivar Brigade, and leader of the Internationalist Workers' Nucleus, adherent to the FLTI
"In The Leon Sedov Brigade I felt it was the continuity of militant internationalism"
Good afternoon and a solidarity hug for everyone.
This is a very special moment, to share with all of you this tribute to Comrade Abu Al Baraa.
Everyone knows me as a former member of the Simon Bolivar Brigade (BSB), which was also an internationalist response. This brigade was promoted by the PST of Colombia, in support of the revolution that, in 1979, the Nicaraguan people held against the Dictatorship Anastasio Somoza Debayle and his family had imposed since 1934. That was a revolution that the Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional (FSLN) appropriated. This Castro-Stalinist-oriented armed group, finally and after the Nicaraguan people's victory established a government of "national unity" headed and directed by the sectors of the bourgeoisie that were previously opponents to the Somozas.
The BSB, beyond the program and the totally wrong policy it had, represented an internationalist praxis, like that of the labor movement in the Spanish Civil War in the 1930s, or the Paris Commune itself. This internationalist praxis was later on lost in the world proletariat for years, until the revolutionary masses of the Maghreb and the Middle East, since 2011, started a huge revolution that totally shook the world. This chain of revolutions put in check the dominance of imperialism in the region and its fascist gendarme, the Zionist state of Israel.
It is precisely the Syrian revolution that led me to learn about the existence of the Leon Sedov Brigade (BLS). In it I felt that it was the continuity of militant internationalism that the revolutionary world had abandoned after the surrender by Stalinism, in 1989, of the already bureaucratized workers states, and after the surrender of the struggle for the Fourth International of the former comrades of the PST -LIT, enthralled in Moreno's pseudo-Trotskyism.
Fortunately, then, linked to the world class struggle, I had contact with the FLTI-CI, and we had some political discussions, which allowed us a not only political, but also organizational approach due to the objective need to strengthen the policy of solidarity with the revolutionaries of the BLS in the Syrian revolution.
After a very educative political discussion, in the development of one of its congresses, the FLTI-CI gave me the opportunity to be involved in its internationalist activities, such as the launch of the book "Syria Under Fire: a bloody revolution" in an event at the National Library of Buenos Aires. There I personally met Abu Muad, an active BLS militiaman, in addition to the honor of being part of the forces of revolutionary socialism that fight for the regrouping and recovery of the flags of the Fourth International, the World Party of Socialist Revolution, and its Program of 1938.
With the premise that "the theory and the program have passed the test, the Trotskyists have not," we were able to reach a common balance against Nahuel Moreno's characterization of "democratic revolution" as a conception at odds with the program of Marxism, a theoretical and programmatic expression of Menshevism and Stalinism, an openly stage-ist conception, opposed to the theory-program of The Permanent Revolution.
Today, exactly four years ago, our dear comrade Abu Al Baraa fell in combat at the hands of the tyrant al-Assad, fighting to break the siege of Aleppo, as part of that youth that when they enter a revolution do not stop fighting until they see its success, even if it means leaving their blood on the road, as comrade Leon Trotsky said.
Along with him, thousands of workers and young rebels have fallen who fought and died defending the cities besieged and devastated by al-Assad, Putin and other agents on behalf of imperialism such as the cities of Homs, Daraya, Idlib, etc., covered with the blood of the most heroic and advanced of this enormous revolution.
Comrade Abu Al Baraa, in addition to fighting daily to break the siege of Aleppo, understood that he had to fight to break the political siege of Syria, and was then one of the co-authors of the book "Syria Under Fire: a bloody revolution" and founder of the newspaper "The Truth of the Oppressed", the voice of the revolutionary socialists of the Maghreb and the Middle East.
His internationalist understanding that, for the revolution to succeed, it could not be left isolated led Abu Al Baraa to become an organizer of the Fourth International in Syria and one of the leaders of the FLTI-CI.
He participated, together with his friends and family, comrades in struggle and combat, in the BLS, made up of internationalist volunteers who came to fight in Syria, converging as the vanguard in that civil war process.
He fought tirelessly to set up the Revolutionary Coordination Committees and led the march to the barracks against the bourgeois generals of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Al Nusra Front, demanding that they return their weapons, which they had hid from the revolutionary people that wanted to fight against the counterrevolutionary forces of al-@2$3; Assad and his allies.
The participation of our young comrade Abu Al Baraa was an enormous contribution to the world proletariat as a fighter, strategist, writer and journalist in the revolutionary process that the Syrian people have been carrying out since 2011. He not only fought alongside the people who shouted and continue crying out: "The People want the fall of the regime!“; not only against the fascist, criminal and dictator Bashar al-Assad, hitman and puppet of US imperialism, but against the lackey of imperialism Putin, the murderous Iranian guard of the ayatollahs, the Hezbollah mercenaries, the Kurdish bourgeoisie and their Stalinist allies of the PKK, and also against ISIS.
He was a principled revolutionary, who did not allow his combat team, the BLS, to be bought as mercenaries. This made a filthy general of the FSA, a friend of Hezbollah and a dog of US imperialism; locate him for a Russian sniper to assassinate him in a vile and treacherous way.
His struggle, the same as the Syrian people's, had a very important ingredient. It raised the flags of solidarity with the world revolution and maintained the real example for that struggle through militant internationalism. Comrade Abu Al Baraa, together with his comrades in the BLS and other comrades in struggle, knew that it was not only his people who had to fight imperialism and capitalist oppression, but that this fight should be part of the fight that we must advance for the socialist revolution worldwide.
Through his internationalist struggle, we revolutionary socialists reached the Maghreb and the Middle East, called on by the fire of the revolution. His example makes us commit to raising these flags in every corner of the world where there is exploitation and oppression against the peoples. For this, Abu Al Baraa was also clear about the need for a world party for the socialist revolution, to lead and guide this struggle.
So, we must follow and continue his example of incessant struggle, of his courage in battle, of his call to militant internationalism, in every street, in every neighborhood, in every town, in the countryside and in the city, under the flags of the Fourth International of 1938, our world party for the socialist revolution.
Abu Al Baraa and all the revolutionary socialists who fight and fall together with hundreds of thousands of workers and young rebels in the Syrian revolution, will always be an example to follow for the internationalist struggle of the world working class, up to socialism.
There will be no forgetfulness or forgiveness in the face of the complicity of those who silenced, slandered and sold out the Syrian revolution. The social-imperialist and Stalinist left, who supported Al Assad and imperialism, have their hands stained with the blood of millions of workers and peasants massacred in the greatest genocide of this century.
Today we are obliged to say, with all certainty:
Comrade Abu Al Baraa, you are present and fighting, in our hearts!!!
Thanks comrades
