Tribute in the 4th anniversary of Abu Al Baraa's death
From Chile
Speech by Felipe Cruces, POI-CI leader, FLTI member
"That task, of not allowing them to lead the masses again into a 'constituent' deception, and telling them the truth, must be the task of the revolutionaries fighting in the ranks of the FLTI, firmly carrying the legacy of our comrade Abu al Baraa"
Good afternoon to all the comrades present on this day in homage to our comrade and leader Abu al Baraa. A greeting and a warm embrace to all. From the revolutionary Chile we wanted to be part of this tribute, because as you all know, we rose a year ago against the regime and the government of Piñera, this civic-military Pinochetista regime, as did millions and millions of exploited Syrians in 2011.
In the streets of Santiago de Chile we raised the flag of the Syrian revolution, we raised it in the Dignity Square, in the front line, just as we raised the flag of the Fourth International. Both flags were taken by our comrade Abu al Baraa in his hands and he fought firmly. We carry that legacy today too, fighting, already from a year ago, in the streets of Chile.
But, in spite of that, today we also see that, as they did in the process of the Maghreb and the Middle East, they want to fool us. They want to make us leave the streets. They want to disorganize and disperse us under the swindle, the trap and the antidemocratic deception of the "constituent process". Just as they did in Tunisia and Egypt, where they applied the programs of constituent assemblies, which were only a detour and an ambush for the masses and the exploited in struggle, so that later, once again, the swords of the generals would return as in Egypt, or that the dungeons would be filled by thousands in Tunisia and Egypt, as today the dungeons of Pinochetism are filled in Chile.
That was a lesson and the political program that our comrade Abu Al Baraa left us to again fight against all the political currents that claim to be on the left, but above all against Stalinism, the reformist left and the pseudo-Trotskyists, who today want to lead us again into that trap.
That task, of not allowing them to lead the masses again into that trap, and telling them the truth, must be the task of the revolutionaries fighting in the ranks of the FLTI, firmly carrying on the legacy of our comrade Abu al Baraa.
We saw that at the end of 2019 a second wave of revolutionary struggle was rising in the Maghreb and the Middle East. Lebanon, Egypt and other cities and countries of the Maghreb and the Middle East were rekindled.
We were also rising up in Latin America, as in Chile, Ecuador, Honduras, Haiti... In both places on the planet we were rising up against the oppression of this rotting capitalist-imperialist system, which only leaves us super-exploitation, misery, and the only thing that has remained and we have been left is to go out into the streets to fight firmly, to fight the regimes and their governments. That is what we did in Latin America and in the Maghreb and the Middle East at the end of 2019.
But imperialism also learned a great lesson, that of the need of their concentrating its counter-revolutionary forces to crush the exploited in one place. Unfortunately, this has happened in Latin America, in Bolivia, when they were massacring in Senkata and Sacaba. That is where imperialism concentrated its forces and dealt a hard blow to the exploited of Latin America.
We know that imperialism, which is deceiving, with its bourgeois democratic traps, the masses in Latin America, is going to fill Chile and other Latin American countries together with Syria, as it did in Bolivia. We are going to take this lesson firmly to all the exploited of Latin America and of the continent, because that is our task and it is one of the legacies left to us by our comrade Abu Al Baraa.
Another of the great fights and struggles that our comrade left us was the inexhaustible, tireless struggle to free all the political prisoners of the regimes, whether in Syria, the Maghreb and the Middle East and the world. Today in the streets of Chile, in Santiago, we continue to demand the freedom of our 2,500 political prisoners whom this regime has in its dungeons. We already have prisoners, and even this week, on the anniversary of the revolution that we started, we had to add a new martyr to our struggle, a young worker like Abu al Baraa called Anibal Villaroel. He was 29 years old. He was a father, just like Abu Al Baraa, and a worker just like him. We know that the governments and regimes are cruel to the youth and to the workers for daring to throw them away in order to achieve a dignified life.
The best tribute in memory of our comrade and to avenge his death will be to take up firmly his flags of struggle, which we continue to take up, and to carry through to the end and to victory the revolutionary struggles that we have undertaken.
I have nothing more to say, comrades. My heart is on fire, as are all of us exploited Chileans and those of the world who go out to fight.
Comrade Abu al Baraa, towards victory forever! Comrade Abu al Baraa present!
