On the morning of April 10, tired of living in tents under the cold, rain, hunger, inhuman conditions of being in the middle of nowhere, thousands of refugees were concentrated meters from the border of Greece and Macedonia in the camp of Idomeni. They demanded the opening of borders to continue their way to Germany, which were closed by EU decision about a month ago. Refugees and their families marched peacefully towards the fence that divides the two countries and there were repression by the Macedonian police who fired tear gas, stun grenades and fired rubber bullets, causing hundreds of casualties, including women and children.
There are more than 50,000 refugees who have been stranded in Greece. They live under threat of deportation every day. They are take to concentration camps, which have nothing to envy to those of the Nazis, to be deported to Turkey, where prisons are waiting for them. From there they are deported back to Syria. They do not give up and fight for decent life! On the island of Chios they have escaped from the camp and 800 of them are resisting in the harbor against police attempts to evict them and then deport them. They march to parliament in Athens. On the border with Macedonia they cut routes and trains and march towards the fence crashing against the border police. It's a revolt of refugees!
But unfortunately they are isolated. Although the workers and poor people of Greece and Europe have shown great solidarity with refugees, workers' organizations have not launched a plan in struggle, and this is the responsibility of their leadership. The union bureaucracy and the CP leave the aside. Antarsya says it supports them, but only appears for a few minutes to take a picture and then disappears without adding a thing, without coordinating any struggle in Greece or European level , for example in France, its parties like the NPA (sister party of the Spartacos OKDE that is within Antarsya) run unions as Solidaires. The same happens with the English SWP which has a great influence on the labor movement in England and nothing has coordinated, despite he also have a party in Greece within Antarsya. They are enemies of uprise the European working class against Maastricht. And the Greek anarchist groups who claim to give "solidarity with refugees" have not organized either with them or established a coordinator.
Refugees are the heart of the European working class! While imperialist Maastricht attacks more the refugees, more mover forward the attack on all the European workers. This happened in France, where the government of Hollande after evacuating the refugee camp in Calais, it increase their work hours. A united struggle against imperialist Maastricht is required!
