Today the 16th of August marks 5 years since the massacre at the koppie in Marikana. To date, there hasn't been any apology from those responsible, no compensation for the families, nor any prosecution of those who created the conditions for workers to be shot in cold blood. Even those who gave orders on that day still walk among us. Instead, the grieving families of the slain have been given work to fill 'the financial void left' behind.
The demand is still for justice and for 12.500R for all the workers!
Despite damning evidence from the Farlam Commission of Inquiry, Lonmin continues to resist compensation.
We want Jobs for all and a living wage! Equal work for equal pay of equal value.
