Mosconi, Salta province, Northern Argentina- March 11, 2017
URGENT
Unemployed female workers are again blocking Route 34 claiming for their wages!
The situation of the unemployed woman workers of Mosconi, who have worked in recent months for miserable wages of 400 Ar. Pesos (USD 27) per month plus child subsidies, is long unbearable. Moreover, to date the government of the province has not paid the wages corresponding to last January and February to a group of about 400 workers.
The workers’ response to this redoubled government attack by starver and repressor (Governor) Urtubey and (President) Macri was immediate. Once again, the workers came decidedly in defense of their children’s bread; they began to group, starting from Friday March 10 at noon, in the verges of Route 34 to organize and face the robbery to their already impoverished pockets. The workers mobilized as they were fed up by the sham of the officials and their dishonest deals with the employers.
The bourgeoisie knows that today there are, as a byproduct of the plan of hunger and repression of the Macri government and the bosses' parties, 1,500,000 more unemployed workers and the rate of poverty is rapidly increasing. The social situation is becoming increasingly critical for millions of exploited; the bourgeoisie has in their memory the struggle of the piqueteros (members of pickets that blocked roads in defense of their jobs and against the attack of the bourgeoisie, NT) of the North of Salta that put in check their businesses and that of the transnationals in their revolutionary upsurge of 2001. That is why, in front of the picket line of these hard-working women who have not hesitated to group together in defense of their families, the authorities have sent the provincial police, the infantry guards and the gendarmerie to terrorize them and force them to abandon their claims.
In spite of and against all the hound dogs of the government and despite being absolutely deserted by the union and piquetera bureaucracies, the woman workers have not surrendered and were Friday all day long until Saturday dawn occupying half the road and organizing to extend and sustain their claim.
It is necessary and urgent to convene an assembly of all the workers of the zone, both employed and unemployed. The UTD (Unemployed workers Union) must lead this fight and put itself at the head of the woman workers' struggle. These brave woman workers shouldn’t be alone for another minute!
It’s necessary to fight again like in 2001!
We must fight back for the 21 points program, for decent jobs for all!
Enough of hunger, misery and repression!
