Chile - June 1st, 2017
Student march by the last public account of Bachelet’s government:
Stop cheating! Let us break the subjection to the institutions of the bourgeoisie!
Let forge the student-worker unity!
About 50,000 students marched through the streets of Santiago (150,000 were mobilized nationwide) attending the convocation of the CONFECH leadership, which was joined by ACES, CONES, No+AFP (No more AFP, TN), Ni una Menos (Not a woman less, TN) and Anef, so that the government "fulfilled its promises", while this one realized its last public account at the National Congress. Mostly high school students, the demonstrators made their discontent feel against all the farce that was the reforms of Bachelet. The students, who went through the Alameda (Main Avenue of the capital) to Avenida Republica, began to feel all the rigor of the police repression, being the secondary students that most resisted it. The disposition to the combat was manifested in the streets again. Despite being fighting in a disjointed way - as it is already customary to do so by the policies of the student movement - the forces remain latent. The enormous combativity that the youth demonstrated in the streets defending of the pacos (police, TN) is a sample of this.
The day did not end there. At 19:00 hours in Plaza de Armas (main square in the center of Santiago), a meeting convened by the CIUS, the Regional Coordinator of Workers and Workers NO + AFP, Health Movement for All and All (MSP) , Coordinating Assembly of Secondary Students ACES, Movimiento Deuda Educativa (Educational Debt Movement), Mapuche Organization Meli Wixan Mapu and the Movement of Villagers VIVIENDA DIGNA (DECENT HOUSING, TN). This protest was carried out under the slogans of “no more AFP”, end of militarization, better public health, etc. They gathered to march through the center of the capital. When they arrived at Alameda, the column of about 1,000 demonstrators was also suppressed by the murderous pacos. The CIUS, which fairly opposes government reforms, in fact refuses to coordinate and mark a road of struggle for all the workers' organizations and unions that it groups, and all the organizations that called this demonstration, it only wanted to leave that mobilization as a reminder of a day of more "struggle" in general. In turn, again in Plaza Italia was developed at 20:30 hours a "cacerolazo" (hitting pans, TN) in Plaza Italia called by the Confech.
The leaderships that called to mobilize for the June 1st a great opportunity to call to extend from here a generalized fight, summoning to other sectors that were taken of scene, like the miners of La Escondida, being that the mining movement is the best one ally of the students in their fight for a free education and of quality. On the contrary, they continued their policy of dividing the ranks of the working class and the exploited.
In all this time it became clear that the reforms were only the mechanism by which the bourgeoisie and its government endowed themselves with the abortion of the revolutionary process that questioned the existence of the bourgeoisie and its government, a thousand times, thanks to the action of the traitorous left: the red pacos of the CP, the red and black ones of the Miristas collectives, several anarco-unionism and little groups of renegades of Trotskyism (like the PTR) closed the perspective to an independent irruption of masses that tumble to the military civilian regime and its government: namely the Revolutionary general strike. Relegating to oblivion the slogan of Renationalization of copper under the control of the workers to conquer education and all our demands, the leaderships of the students and sectors of the working class printed to this day of struggle the character of a manifestation of pressure to the government. Some alluded to the fact that the reforms failed. Others that they did not take into account the social movements. All coordinated under the logic that this government could give something if it was pressed. Facts confirm that this government has not came to solve the pressing problems of the masses, since it has been more than demonstrated, before the eyes of thousands of exploited, that Bachelet, the CP and the coupers of DC only came to take us out from the streets to prevent us from triumphing. We insist, all due to the role of the treacherous directions.
Let us break the subjection of our organizations of struggle to the institutions of the bourgeoisie!
While we see that there are sectors that forge to enter the fight, although in an isolated way, as happens with secondary high school students who hold paralyzes, occupations and marches for their demands; university students who fight against the closure of their universities (Iberoamericana and Arcis); the workers of the multinational H & M who have initiated a salary increase strike and the customs workers who maintain a national strike; There is no other perspective than to give a single unified fight, neither the government nor the employers are willing to give any direction to the international economic situation that is exacerbated by a huge crisis that is far from reversing. The struggle must be to conquer everything, today more than ever we must again make the streets scream the cry of: “Renationalization of copper without compensation to the imperialist transnationals and under the control of the workers to conquer our demands!”
It is necessary to refute the directions that are coming to us at the behest of the bourgeois regime! They do not represent us! Worker-student unity! We must prepare the revolutionary general strike to bring down the military civic regime of the constitution of the '80! For that: Stop fighting divided! Coordinator of the fight of all the sectors that go out to the combat! Enough of repression and intimidation! Coordinated and voted self-defense points in grassroots organizations! Freedom to all political prisoners!
