Against the "normality" that Piñera and the mayors want,
Secondary school students impose their own "Back to School" with assemblies, strikes, mobilizations and barricade combats against murderous pacos
In their eagerness to show "normality" and bet on the exhaustion of the enormous revolutionary combat that has been going on for almost 20 days; yesterday Piñera’s government, together with the Education's Ministry and different mayors of the country, decreed the restart of classes in most high schools. They can clearly do this thanks to the leadership of the College of Teachers, in the hands of the Frente Amplio, which after so many days of struggle they have only called teacher strike twice.
They wanted to prevent high schools students from re-grouping in the schools so that their struggle becomes stronger, Mayor Alessandri from Renovación Nacional (Piñera´s party) closed the year of the National Institute and the INBA so that they would not return to school there. A clear attempt to prevent the mobilization of the students of these two high schools, which had been the undisputed vanguard of the high schools struggle recently, especially against the “Safe Classroom” law and who later were the head of the appeals to make massive evasions in the subway, which ended up unleashing in this enormous revolutionary masses uprising that has put the whole of the exploiters on edge.
But the plan “backfired” all of them and the high schools students imposed their mark on this return to school. Throughout the country, the “normality” was to hold assemblies within the high schools, starting at noon; to leave the establishments to demonstrate or concentrate in different places, throwing away the bars of the Pinochetist school director and decisively facing the repression of the pacos with barricade struggle.
In the south there were mobilizations in Tomé and Concepción, where they started some high school occupations such as the Republic of Brazil School, as in Puerto Montt where they occupied Manuel Montt High School.
In San Felipe, the students of the Industrial Lyceum held protests inside the school and with other high schools such as the Cordillera. They mobilized through the commune center.
In Iquique, the Bajo Molle School, the English School and Don Bosco´s students broke the high school chains and took to the streets to join the march. They concentrated in the Arturo Prat square and marched towards the regional administration of Tarapacá. They were joined by the Santo Tomás University students who blocked the streets and set up barricades.
In Calama, the same thing happened. Students from various high schools escaped their establishments to go to the city center.
In Antofagasta, the barricade combat took place on Av. Edmundo Pérez Zujovic and Nicolás Tirado.
In Los Andes, both yesterday and today the Mixed Lyceum students made a mobilization inside the high school and then left to march through the streets. A column of dozens and dozens of outsourced miners from CODELCO, Andean division, also moved towards the center of the city, who mobilized to the cry of “Up those who fight!”
In Lota, the Manuel D’alzon school students also mobilized.
In Santiago, the students of the central high schools concentrated in Plaza Italia, while in communes such as Renca or Maipú the students marched to the squares there. The pacos brutally repressed them and attacked the Lyceum 7´s comrades particularly, entering the school and firing rubber bullets against the students.
Tens of thousands of high school students took to the streets across the country. Today the bourgeois tremble in fear because workers’ sons have gone out again. Long live the revolutionary youth! Let's coordinate all the high schools and colleges in struggle and strengthen the worker-student unit to stand up the power of the workers and the rebel youth to make come true the cry of "Out with Piñera!", "Enough of the Constitution of '80s!” and “Education first to the worker's child!” |
