Yesterday night, Saturday 08/01, fascist gangs, acting together with the murderous pacos (cops), attacked with sticks and evicted the poor peasants of Mapuche ethnic origin who were taking the municipality of Curacautín, in southern Chile, fighting for the freedom of the Mapuche political prisoners who are on hunger strike. 19 Mapuche community members were vilely beaten and detained.
These gangs, grouped together in the APRA (Association for Peace and Reconciliation in Araucania), are armed and financed by forestry companies, large landowners, imperialist transnational corporations and Pinochetista generals. Of course, this was organized from the upper echelons of the bloodthirsty Piñera government and its brand new Minister of the Interior (Home Security), Pinochetista Victor Perez, who recently traveled to Araucania declaring that "there are no political prisoners" and that the "Mapuches are terrorists"
Proof of this, that same night, in a coordinated attack, events similar to those in Curacautin took place in the cities of Traiguen and Ercilla, whose municipalities were also occupied by Mapuche community members. The same happened in Victoria, where plainclothes pacos evicted the original people occupying the respective City Halls, fiercely beating even women and children and taking them into custody.
This fascist attack aims to punish the working class as a whole, the poor peasants, the rebellious youth and all the exploited masses that rose up in October against the Piñera government and the damn Pinochetista civil-military regime, so that we never take that path again.
Today fascism raises its head because the collaborationist union bureaucracies, beginning with the CUT and other organizations of the "Board of Social Unity", led by the "Red Pacos (Cops)" of the CCP and the Broad Front, have played to the end their role of dividing the ranks of the working class and the exploited and betrayed the path to the general strike, thus removing the labor movement from the scene and separating it from the poor peasants of Mapuche ethnic origin, the rebel youth and the oppressed masses in struggle. Meanwhile, they have put all their strength into leading the working class and the poor people into the trap of the "constitutional plebiscite" that was postponed until next October, which has the sole objective of removing the masses from the revolutionary struggle and that Piñera remains, as it has been until now. The more these leaderships seek to numb us with the scam of the plebiscite so that we leave the streets definitively, the more we do not return to the October road, and the more fascism rises up.
Today, sectors of workers and exploited came out taking the streets in some parts of the country, demonstrating that there will be no unanswered aggression. Thus, in the cities of Temuco, Valdivia, Concepción and Aysen and in some working-class neighborhoods of Santiago such as San Bernardo, Puente Alto and Maipu, marches and rallies took place and barricades were erected. We must deepen and redouble these actions!
Before it is too late, we have to defeat the attacks of these fascist gangs! With fascism there is no discussion! You fight Fascism or else you die!
Without delay, it is necessary to set up base assemblies and worker councils in each mine, port, factory and work center, and from there and from the territorial assemblies, combative workers and student organizations, etc., to set up self-defense committees and the worker and peasant militia to urgently crush the fascists and defeat the murderous pacos and the Pinochetista militia groups that are on the streets of Chile today!
From the Port Union, the Workers' Class-oriented Central and all the workers' organizations that have expressed their support for the poor Mapuche peasants have to quickly call for these organizations to stand up, to stop the hand of the government and its fascist gangs.
Enough with collaborationist student and union bureaucracies, accomplices in the plan that the workers and the poor people are paying for the crisis with unemployment and hunger!
Meanwhile, the "Coordinator for the freedom of political prisoners October 18" has called for a week of agitation abroad, to demand the release of Mapuche political prisoners. That is the path that must be followed and deepened. Only in a common fight at the international level with all the forces of the fighters and workers will we be able to get our prisoners out of the jails of this damned Piñera government and the regime of the 1980s constitution.
We must resume the revolutionary path of October! Revolutionary General Strike right now!

We have to fight as our best allies fight: the black people, the working class and the rebellious youth in the US, who have settled accounts and took white supremacists off the streets and confronted the Trump government and its fascist police in the bowels of the imperialist beast.

Free the Mapuche political prisoners on hunger strike and the more than 3,000 fighters imprisoned in the dungeons of the Pinochetista regime!
