Regarding the "open letter" of the PTR to build a "new revolutionary and working class left"
The PTR reissues the old policy of
"peaceful path to socialism" of the 1970s
Only under the flags of the IV International and its program it will be possible to set up a revolutionary combat party for the victory of the exploited
In an "open letter" dated 05/20, the PTR proposes a program to "open the debate" to build a "new revolutionary and working class Left in Chile." But as we will demonstrate, this program is just the opposite of a true revolutionary party.
Apparently, the leadership of the PTR makes this proposal to fight for a "workers' government", as the way to lead to victory the huge revolutionary masses uprising that began in October 2019 (sibling of the fighting in Ecuador, Iraq, Lebanon, Catalonia, etc.). But they do not raise that for achieving this, it is necessary to defeat the Pinochet officer caste, an agent of the Pentagon and the USA military base of Con Con, the fundamental pillar of the civic-military regime and the bourgeois state. They are which with their bayonets guard the private property of the capitalists and imperialism and also grab a millionaire portion of the looting of copper. So, how can the masses advance in conquering a "workers' government" and defeating the "inheritance of the dictatorship", as the PTR says, without destroying the Chilean bourgeois state and its fundamental pillar, the Armed Forces, that gang of armed men of the bourgeoisie against the working class? What kind of "revolutionary" party do they want to set up if they do not call to destroy the officer caste, to horizontally break the army that now occupies the streets, if they do not ask the rank and file soldiers to disregard the officers and set up their base committees and the armament of the masses to defeat the bourgeoisie?
As Lenin said in The State and Revolution in 1917, arguing with the renegade Kautsky, the leader of the German Social Democracy: “the liberation of the oppressed class is impossible, not only without a violent revolution, but also without the destruction of the apparatus of state power that has been created by the ruling class." Following Lenin's words, PTR's "proposal" is for a rare "revolutionary" party that does not intend to destroy, by means of the victory of the revolution, the pillar of bourgeoisie's power, as Kautsky himself proclaimed. PTR's "new left" is the old recipe of Castro and Allende's "peaceful path to socialism" that ended up being the "bloody path" to the genocidal military coup which the Chilean working class paid so dearly. The leadership of the PTR is in the footsteps of Corbalán's Communist Party, which betrayed with this policy the Revolution of the Industrial Cords in the 1970s.
For this reason, the PTR leadership is opposed to proposing the "workers' government" to be based on the organizations of self-determination, direct democracy and armament of the proletariat and the masses, as the Industrial Cordons aimed to be in '73.
The perspective of the PTR for its "revolutionary" party is not to prepare the seizure of power by the working class leading the whole of the impoverished classes of the countryside and the city. For this reason, even if they are forced to speak about self-organization of the masses and of "the return of the Industrial Cordons", this is purely lip service, since they refuse to raise it as an immediate program to set up the power of the working class, the rebellious youth and all sectors of the masses that have entered the fight, against the power of the bourgeoisie, that is, the soviets, the organisms of self-determination and direct democracy so that the masses take power.
None of this the PTR deems it necessary. For them, the strategic way out is not the seizure of power, but the "Constituent Assembly", what they never got tired in repeating as the masses burst into bringing down the Government and the civil-military regime. This proposal is not even democratic since there is no possibility for ending with the 1980
Constitution and advancing to a free and sovereign Constituent Assembly without disarming the murderous "pacos", the officers of the Armed Forces and the Con Con military base. With this deceitful pacificist lie it is clear that the true policy of the PTR leadership is the "peaceful way" to "democratize" a regime that was imposed with a fierce counterrevolutionary coup in 1973 and that today shows all its Pinochetista face with soldiers on the streets. It is the reissue of the old "two-stage revolution" of Stalinism. They tell the working class that it has a whole stage of struggle ahead for "more democracy" by way of a Constituent Assembly that liquidates the "inheritance of the dictatorship" and then, who knows when, they will be able to fight for the socialist revolution.
But not even in this they are consistent. Today the PTR, while babling about a "new revolutionary left" and of finishing with the "Pinochetista legacy", have recently supported the puppet plebiscite that was going to take place in April, calling to vote for "Approval", which meant to approve Piñera, the generals and all the bosses politicians in power and for imperialism to continue looting the copper.
This is how the entire old reformist left of Chile ended, from the CP to the Broad Front, together with all the renegades of Trotskyism such as the PTR or MIT: holding the trap that allowed Piñera to continue ruling today. Today it is the masses that pay the consequences of this policy, in the midst of the pandemic and the crisis, with the military in the streets, millions of unemployed, collapsed hospitals, dying of starvation or coronavirus, with 2,500 political prisoners, etc.
The PTR's "revolutionary party" option, tied to the politics of the parliamentary left that heads the FIT-U of Argentina
The PTR's commitment is part with the international policy of the renegades of Trotskyism who for years dedicated themselves to sustaining and supporting Stalinism at international level, as part of the New Left and its policy of leading workers to fight for a " real and generous democracy” to avoid the path of the socialist revolution. So it is no accodent that the "great model" of the PTR is the FIT-U of Argentina, which, far from being a revolutionary party as they claim, has always been a mere electoral front which has become the "left support" of Kirchnerism, dedicating itself to seeking for the bourgeois Parliament to vote laws "in favor of the workers" and advising the Fernández government to promote "progressive" measures.
Today the PTR talks about building a new "revolutionary" left in the face of the "failures" of Syriza and Podemos and the need for "class independence", when the former Trotskyists did not get tired of pursuing a policy of class collaboration to subjecting workers to a fraction of their executioners. They are who called to vote in the Syriza plebiscite in 2015 and thus legitimized that government, enemy of the people. They are who embellished Podemos in Spain, stating that they were the "expression" of the 2011 Indignados' struggle. They are who painted a bourgeois imperialist candidate like Sanders in the US as "socialist", while supporting Haddad "against Bolsonaro” in Brazil.
In Chile, they are who dedicated themselves to supporting the CP and the Broad Front, with the PTR condemning for years each sector of the workers that came out to fight without the Stalinist bureaucracy contol and allegedlly "paralleling the CUT." Today they all ended up together supporting the plebiscite scam.
Those who speak of a "revolutionary party", are the same ones that went to Havana to a seminar on Trotsky organized by Castroism, joining those who have given over the Cuban revolution to capitalist restoration. It is clear that this call for a "new revolutionary left" is a scam to continue playing their role, handing over the Fourth International to dissolve into parties, fronts and common blocs with Stalinism.
The working class in Chile needs a revolutionary leadership that first of all points out who their allies are and who are those that speaking in the name of the "revolution" , are nothing else that an obstacle for it to succeed. The party that workers in Chile and worldwide need is the re-founded IV International of 1938, the World Party of the Socialist Revolution. Against those that handed over the Fourth International and have brought it into the mud of Stalinism, the forces of the Trotskyists of the POI-CI and the FLTI are at the service of recovering our world party from the hands of the renegades of Trotskyism. We know that together with the revolutionary forces of the working class and the brave youth of Chile and the world, and under the banners of the Fourth International, we will be able to build a true revolutionary party in Chile, a Trotskyist and internationalist one, in order to give back to the working class the leadership that it deserves and needs to succed, which will be at the hands of our best allies: the black people, the workers and the rebel youth who fight in the United States, within the "imperialist beast".
