At 60 days since the start of the great heroic strike of El Cerrejón miners...
With the takeover of the largest coal mining complex in Latin America and a total impact on the production...
Fighting for a salary increase, to maintain his labor rights, and against the "death shift", in defense of their lives, health and safety...
The heroic miners of El Cerrejón mark the path of how to face transnational corporations and imperialism
The strike of El Cerrejón workers for wages
and against labor slavery must succeed!
If they win, we all win!
In the surroundings of El Cerrejón coal mine, in the Ranchería river basin, southeast of the department of La Guajira, the strike continues by more than 10,000 workers who have put themselves on the warpath against the transnationals, BHP Billington, the Anglo American and Glencore, completely stopping production for two months in the largest open pit mine in Latin America.
This is how we must fight against the attack of the capitalists who come all the way for everything imposing a generalized attack against the conquests of the world working class so that we pay for their crisis.
The heroic coal miners have risen in defense of their wages, against the removal of their conquests and against the death shift that they want to impose on them and which means reducing the current four teams to three, endangering their lives, their health and their safety as well as leaving 1,200 staff workers and 2,500 outsourced workers on the street.
In this regard, the president of The Cerrejón, Claudia Bejarano, with a clear class instinct, has been emphatic in pointing out that “this point is not part of the collective agreement, but rather an administrative decision that is key to the future of the company, therefore, it is not negotiable”. With the excuse that the company has lost more than 368,000 million (Colombian) pesos this year in a context in which the production of coal and the price of the mineral have been reduced (although the national government grants exemptions of parafiscal contributions to large mining companies, equivalent to 13.5 percent of the cost of their payroll) they intend to cut benefits so that we, the workers, pay for their "losses" with hunger, layoffs and labor flexibility at the cost of our bones and our muscles. According to the workers themselves, the "savings" would be a reduction in benefits equivalent to 174,000 million pesos.
That is why the heroic strike of El Cerrejon miners cannot continue to be isolated at the mercy of negotiations and pacts between the employer's association, the labor ministry and the treacherous union bureaucracy that keeps it isolated. By means of our solidarity and with the methods of struggle of the working class, we must prevent the "Court of Arbitration" to be summoned, which would amount to leaving the employers together with the government determine by vote (two against one of the workers), a "solution” for the conflict… NO TO THE ARBITRATION COURT… LONG LIVE THE STRIKE!
Today the leaderships of the workers' centrals maintain their complicit silence with the regime and the multinationals, today those leaderships that claim to represent the masses are only concerned that the bourgeoisie do not snatch the crusts that they throw away for them, that is, their privileges, which is what keeps them alive as small groups, that's the reason for this method of betrayal with silence and immobility.
While from the PST-LIT they make lukewarm statements of solidarity calling for a "National Strike against Duque and his criminal government" this 21N, omitting that it is a fight against imperialism and its multinationals… Enoughbetrayal and complicitsilence!
We must immediately coordinate the struggle of the workers, the youth, the poor, the indigenous and black peasants with the 10,000 fellow miners of El Cerrejon. Because if they are defeated we are all defeated and if they win we all win!
The workers and peasants organizations must break with the bourgeoisie, their politicians and their parties and make solidarity effective by calling for the setting up of committees from base Assemblies with mandated delegates of employed and unemployed workers, young revolutionaries, students and poor peasants, grouping ourselves in a National Struggle Front that marches at the gates of El Cerrejon to prepare and summon the General Strike or the true National Civic Strike until the Duque government and the slaughtering and murderous regime of the US imperialists' military bases fall!
Faced with the traps and detours that they try to impose on us, such as the electoral trap in Bolivia, the plebiscite in Chile, to stop the combat and the class war, we workers know that all our conquests, even the smallest ones, were achieved by fighting for everything. We workers know that the eight hours were nurtured by the blood of the Chicago martyrs in the very heart of US imperialism, where today the workers and the American black people are rising again.
That is why the path cannot be other than the one we imposed on November 21, 2019.
We must retake the streets with strikes, pickets, barricades and the Revolutionary General Strike until there is no stone on stone left of this anti-worker, hunger promoter and murderous regime of the US imperialist military bases!
NATIONAL STRIKE NOW FOR THE SUCCESS OF EL CERREJON STRIKE, AND FOR CONQUERING ALL OUR DEMANDS, FOR BREAD, FOR LAND, WORK AND DECENT WAGES FOR EVERYONE!
For the looters of mines, oil and land to leave Colombia! Nationalization of El Cerrejon without compensation and under workers' control! To have the right to work, land, decent life and living in peace, we must expel imperialism from Colombia. Out with the IMF and the bankers! Nationalization of the banks without compensation!
Those from above stole everything from us, even our lives. Sooner than later we must go for them. No justice, no peace!
OUT DUKE, OUT WITH THE IMF, OUT WITH IMPERIALISM!
COLOMBIA WILL BE A WORKER AND SOCIALIST COUNTRY OR
IT WILL CONTINUE TO BE A COLONY OF US IMPERIALISTS AND WALL STREET.
