They are killing us
Major day of struggle and solidarity with the workers and the Colombian people
Nora Cortiñas, Mothers of Plaza de Mayo - Founding Line
"Enough of killing, enough of torturing, enough of disappearing!"
I am Nora de Cortiñas; I belong to the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo - Founding Line. Today is a special day, first, because we are together with all the mothers who are suffering this scourge of violence in several of our brother countries, our neighbors. It’s also the date of the murder of Dario and Maxi. We are also searching for Tehuel; we are searching for Guadalupe. Disappearances keep happening. It would seem that they haven’t been erased from the methodology that exists in any of our countries to persecute and disappear. We don’t know the purpose of persecuting and disappearing a 5 year old girl, a 22 year old boy, and the list goes on. There are still those who have disappeared. The story of Santiago Maldonado and of Arruga has not yet been clarified. We, the Mothers, continue our search for the records to be opened and to finally tell us what happened to all the disappeared detainees. We continue the struggle for Memory, Truth and Justice.
And today I want, on behalf the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo - Founding Line, to embrace the mothers and fathers, the relatives of this violence unleashed in this part of the world. I also want to embrace and say that we are with them, with the workers, with all the people who struggle to have a peaceful livelihood, where they can feed their children, where they can have a job and a living wage. We want to greet especially the nurses, health workers who are very mistreated by the State and that in these days of pandemic and with a very great loss of them, also of our friends, we are fighting for the end of this terrible situation that brings the pandemic. We ask people to be careful; that each one who is careless can cause the death of hundreds of people. So today I want to say that we remember all the fallen also in Argentina, young kids fallen also by the criminal police bullet. And we have to keep on fighting for this violence to end.
(...) Just a few days ago we received our commission that went to Colombia to show solidarity with all the victims of this violence unleashed by the State, by the government of Colombia. Enough of killing! Enough of torturing! Enough of disappearing! Enough of so much persecution!
And we also ask that the story of the 43 repressed in Ayotzinapa to be clarified.
We are together, we embrace you from Argentina, we are united by love and we will continue with love for the people as long as it’s necessary and that is all. Thank you.
The disappeared detainees, present! Now and always!
Until victory always! We will win!" |
