The Romanian workers and exploited have been 9 days on the streets protesting against a decree that decriminalizes corruption cases, bribery or conflict of interests whose amount don’t surpass 44.000 Euros!
That is to say, the officers of the ruling parties of the government on duty authorized themselves to steal the people till that amount and legitimize what they are already doing since years. 44.000 euros was the sum that it was discovered that the president of the Social Democratic Party (currently in the government) has stolen. That’s why the amount of 44.000 Euros was set. The exploited must know it is barely a tip in comparison what the people’s expropriators really steal.
Romania is a colonized nation since the capitalist restoration in 1989. It is a nation plundered by the IMF first. It is a nation submitted to the IMF with a foreign debt valued in 101.4 billion dollars, with which the majority of what the workers and exploited produce goes away. With a GDP of barely 186 billion dollars, Romania has to deal with this plundering, besides the profits of the native oligarchs.
The imperialist Europe has filled Eastern Europe with sweat-shops (maquilas) and branches of his parent companies. There, the imperialist companies exploit workers, especially from Romania, such as those companies do in China under the management of the red entrepreneurs of the Chinese CP or as it happens in any maquila country like Mexico, India, Bangladesh, etc.
The imperialist Europe of Maastricht has led Romanian petty agricultural producers to ruin. They have 8 o 10 hectares which are not enough to have even a survival economy for their families. Thousands of agricultural workers and petty agrarian producers move to the cities and the imperialist Europe seeking a better life.
Romania as well as Ukraine, was a granary of Europe due to his huge area of arable land (14.7 millions of hectares). The expropriation of bourgeoisie at the end of the Second World War provoked the agrarian collectivization. It meant a huge leap forward for the productive forces. With the capitalist restoration in 1989 the corrupt Stalinist millionaire bureaucracy of Ceausescu transformed itself into a new oligarchy and took for itself the best lands and handed over small areas of land for tens of thousands of petty peasants covering the robbery of the vast majority of the richest lands. As usual in every survival economy, the petty producers ended up bankrupt and having a huge drop in productivity in the Romanian countryside.
This meant to give land at a cheap price and a new and huge concentration of it. Even today, the trend to the concentration of land in the hands of the big economic groups and entrepreneurs of the imperialist Maastricht in partnership with a native oligarchy of the Romanian bourgeoisie is leading once again to latifundium and looting of the land. We can see in France the cost of the rent per hectare is 6000 or 4400 euros while in Romania is 2000. That is, the richest lands of Europe are a bargain.
40% of Romanian exports are an agrarian income taken by the new landowners interweave with the imperialist European powers and banks on one side, and to a lesser extent by the government, State and the new Romanian new oligarchy.
The agrarian question and imperialist oppression are the maximum proof that Romania is enslaved, colonized and plundered by the Europe of Maastricht, IMF and the native oligarchy in association with them. As we see in Germany, France, Austria, Borbons and other imperialist parasites from western Europe mistreat the Eastern European countries as their backyard. They mistreat not only Romanian and the Eastern nations that form the “vital space” of Maastricht but also Russia with Putin-their junior partner.
Putin guarantees gas and energy so the businesses of the pirates of the imperialist Europe can work. This counterrevolutionary bandit together with his partners of the Great Russian oligarchy sold out 49% of the shares of the Russian gas company to the German BASF. He gave France, Germany and USA the control of the high-tech of the military industrial apparatus. The plan of Europe-Maastricht and US imperialism is to advance on Eastern Europe to plunder it and even on Russia to semi-colonize it.
Thus, Romania and his workers and poor people only have ahead more misery, starvation under the whip of the imperialism and plundering of his native oligarchy. The world crack doesn't give a rest. The offensive of the imperialist powers gets deepen on the entire colonial and semi colonial world and even on the working class of the central countries. So, Romania is already subjugated to the imperialism by double and triple chains having an industrial and agrarian working class over exploited and those eradicated of the agrarian economy exiled in the imperialist Europe. Thus, the regime and government -lackey of the imperialism- are lying down on a volcano, that is, the unprecedented sufferings of the masses who push more and more towards the political struggle against the oppressors.
The decree shamelessly legalizing corruption and robbery to the people was the spark, the trigger that made people take to the streets. The ruling elites in the government live in abundance by stealing the people while Romanian workers earn the lowest salaries in Europe as Ukraine, that is, 280 euros.
The fight in the streets has already started. This mass offensive provoked the political casualty of the justice and education ministers, that the government scrapped the decree and opened a huge crisis in the government, regime and the top. Masses has shown determination not to abandon the streets till “everybody go, nobody left” of the corrupted politicians, those servants of the imperialism. The struggle method that exploited are applying is to occupy the squares, political life centre of the nation, particularly of his capital. We can say that in Romania, the exploited are fighting against the government and regime-lackey of the imperialism- as masses did in Egypt in Tahrir Square. That is the ongoing process leading by toiling masses, that is, those people bellow.
Despite the attempts of the world imperialist press and spokespersons of the left current to present such anti-imperialist struggle as a battle against corruption and for a policy of “clean hands”, the true engine of the fight is the just mass hatred against the generalized pillage over Romania to which the imperialism has transformed into a true colony. This was guaranteed by successive oligarchy governments hugely enriched thanks to the scraps taken from the colonial looting and starvation of the people.
Romania, an enslaved working class in a plundered colony
Under no circumstances, the capitalist restoration in the Eastern Europe could create new capitalist powers but only colonies. There is overabundance of imperialist powers. It has been proven during the 2008 crac where the European southern powers like Italy, Greece and Spain were left totally in bankruptcy and among the big imperialist powers has started a hard clash of commercial wars for a world market getting smaller.
The old Stalinist bureaucracy before becoming a new bourgeoisie in 1989 also began to indebt the worker states he was destroying as well as submitted the worker states to the IMF and imperialist world economy. Romania is the major sample of this. Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Ukraine and USSR were in debt to the IMF. In that way, imperialism entered into the planned economy, that is, the worker states went into debt to be able to buy in the world market what they could not produce.
The capitalist restoration in 1989 was not imposed by Hitler's tanks- as he tried to do after World War Two- but by IMF and Citibank dollars.
The former stalinist bureaucracy became a direct agent of the imperialism and a new owner class that promoted the setting of dictatorial Bonapartist fascist governments like in Chechnya, Balkans, Georgia, Ossetia, Armenia by terror methods and massacres. It is unbelievable that the renegades of Trotskyism at the feet of Stalinism in 1989 keep saying today that capitalism was restored in the worker states by bourgeois democracy and peacefully. They are vulgar liers! During Yalta and post-war they embellished Stalinism. And when Stalinism restored capitalism and became a new bourgeois ruling class, the renegades of Trotskyism covered them as “democratic” and “liberal”.
The latest decree of the Russian Bonaparte Putin, the hit man of the imperialism- decriminalizes domestic violence in cases where mistreatment, blows inside the family against women and children provoke bruises, scratches, or superficial wounds or physical pain-but not bodily harm-. That is, in these cases there will not be criminal liability.
There is no legal right to go on strike in Russia or any country located in Eastern Europe. This right is mixed up in bourgeois laws and decrees that prevent it. In Russia, a demo with more than 2 people means more than 5 years of prison. Why don’t the “anticapitalists” go to Moscow to set up their parties? Why don’t the British SWP, French NPA or Argentinean FIT go to Moscow to try the bourgeois parliamentary “democracy” they say there is in Russia?
They proclaim the “real democracy” for the imperialist Europe and keep silent and back the murderous Putin that massacred in Syria, and together with the imperialism opened military bases in the former Muslim republics of USSR. Podemos, servants of the Spanish crown, and Syriza, servants of Morgan bank claim to “democratize Maastricht” when there's NATO cannons and counterrevolutionary hit men on borders.
In Russia and Eastern Europe there are regimes totally Bonapartist, based on terror, intelligence services, agreements and negotiations with imperialism in the back rooms.
The Romanian masses rebel against all of this. Their struggle objectively hit hardly against imperialism and all its counterrevolutionary devices in Europe. That’s why the Romanian working class is a decisive faction of the European working class. In the backyard of Europe-Maastricht, Romania suffers all the European working class woes but in an increased way since Romania is a colony of Maastricht. The nation is tied to it by an usurious foreign debt. Masses life conditions have nothing to envy to Africa of Latin America. All of them are dominated by the international finance capital through a mechanism of foreign debts. In Romania it means a 280 Euro-salary paid using a domestic currency without value, maquilas, unemployment, usury and plundering of land.
The imperialist banks in the bankrupted Europe (Greece, Spain or Italy) which went bankrupt in 2008 had their assets in Wall Street and then took the treasury of the states. They put the money in their pockets. They collected their debts. The states broke. And now they move onto an attack on the working class. But before that, in order to recover their profits, they plundered and keep on plundering all the countries in Eastern Europe, as we see it done by the Italian, German, Greek, Belgian transnational companies.
The direct agents of IMF and the finance capital in Romania today are the Social Democratic Party and the National Liberal Party, the representatives of both bourgeois gangs in which the old oligarch became... the allies and friends of the old Romanian Stalinist billionaire Ceausescu.
Merkel's Germany and the whole imperialist Maastricht gets supplies from the agricultural production in Romania and floods it with manufactures, while has installed over there big sweat shops. The imperialist Europe relocated its auto industry and auto parts industry as well as light industry to produce in Romania and all across Eastern Europe with cheap slave qualified labour. This subjugation has also created a huge industrial reserve army, in the cities and in the farms, that is forced to go to the imperialist Europe and do the worst jobs there, together with their class brothers and sisters from Asia, Africa and Middle East. The alternative of the Romanian workers is to be a second class worker in Romania or second class slaves in the imperialist Europe.
The imperialist bankers of Maastricht have said "Romania is an associated member of EU". This is a lie. Romania is a French-German colony, strangled by the rope of IMF and NATO troops, with their generals, that have the military bases installed in there. Last year, USA installed a high tech missile shield.
Romania is nothing but a mirror in which the rest of the former workers states of European East should look... as well as Russia and China that still have a relative independence in the world economy and the world division of labour imposed by it. This division of labour has broken in this new round of the world economic crisis, with the crisis of BRICS. Obama, Trump and the US imperialist butchers are saying that China has to be a big importer and give in its domestic market to imperialism; while Russia must supply raw materials and its military device and finances should technologically depend on imperialism.
Without any doubt, the current dispute of the imperialist powers, such as Germany, USA, Japan and England is on how to end up colonizing China and Russia as they did with Romania, Vietnam and Eastern Europe.
If this is the plan of imperialism in the middle of an economic crisis and bankruptcy, Romania has ahead only barbarism and decay that still hasn't reached the bottom and it is far from it.
If in post-war the Stalinist bureaucracy and its red army were in charge of controlling the masses in Eastern Europe, today it is directly imperialism with NATO
The leftist currents lackeys of imperialism, wrongfully named “anti-capitalists”, the shameless social-imperialist supporters of Maastricht such as Syriza or Podemos announce that NATO have moved troops to Poland, Hungary and the Baltic countries to threaten the “super-enemy Russia”, as they say. This is a lie! We have seen this before in Ukraine and in the Balkans. NATO troops are occupation troops in Eastern Europe used to control and ready to attack and slaughter every revolutionary process that develops in the region, whether commanding the local military mercenary forces or doing it themselves directly… or hiring the services of the murderers of Putin white army, as a last option. This is a matter of life or death for the Romanian masses, as it was yesterday for Ukraine, as they have entered in state of rebellion.
An example of this is Ukraine. NATO is there to attack the masses in Donbass with Kiev counterrevolutionary forces, while Putin is there to isolate the masses, to divide them from the rest of the workers in Ukraine to expose from inside the most militant of the revolutionary vanguard. His annexing of Crimea in 2014, as the Ukrainian revolution started, chased the main goal of the masses no to take over his military base. Today, Trump reminds his friend Putin to give that base back. Before that, Obama ordered him to remove his soldiers from the borders with Ukraine and this imperialist lackey obeyed blindly.
Yesterday, the role of controlling the masses in Eastern Europe was played by the red army as World War 2 ended. In that region, the working class had defeated fascism with their blood and militant organizations and imposed –in spite of the Stalinist bureaucracy- the generalized expropriation of the capitalists and the landowners.
The red army was then in charge of controlling the masses in Eastern Europe. This was established by a pact of Stalinism with the “democratic” imperialisms such as USA and England, i.e. Yalta agreement at the end of World War 2. This role was very well played as we see it with the Russian invasion to crush the revolutionary processes in Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary and Eastern Germany… that is the “peaceful coexistence” of Stalinism with imperialism in post-war while it strangled hundreds of socialist revolutions around the world.
Today, once capitalism is restored, that role cannot be played by Russia anymore. That’s Maastricht’s backyard and now the one imposing discipline is NATO. Furthermore, huge missile shields are installed for cornering Russia, increasingly subjugate it in economy and finances, and militarily control it from the point of view of the high tech war that Russia doesn’t have.
Putin’s counterrevolutionary government has to fulfill his duties first. He did it in Syria very well and he will do it in Eastern Europe whenever imperialism circumstantially needs him. If so, they will call him but under NATO’s control.
The key point is that the missile shield installed in Romania, Poland and Hungary; NATO troops surrounding Russia and in the Baltic countries are not there to attack Putin but the Russian masses that rise as in 1917 or enter into revolutionary process overthrowing the regime and the murderous government of Putin and take control of the Russian industrial military apparatus inherited from USRR. That’s what imperialism fears and that’s the reason NATO besieges Russia. They are aiming to the masses, not Putin or his government who never shot a cork from a cider bottle to imperialism,
Romania, as a colony, is also a military base of NATO. The Romanian masses in their struggle are confronting these very powerful enemies. In their favor they have that they are one of the links of the European working class (east and west) which is strategically located.
In this colony, as it couldn’t be in any other way, the Romanian army is under the command of NATO generals. There is not a single gram of independence from the imperialist powers for these Eastern colonies.
European imperialism and IMF are watching the uprising of the Romanian masses with huge concern, as it was yesterday in Ukraine. They anticipate that the Eastern working class can return to the fight. It was the vanguard in the fights in half of the Twentieth Century, before, during and after World War Two, confronting fascism, Stalinism and imperialism in 1989 processes.
The world bourgeoisie is afraid of the workers uprising in Eastern Europe because they know that in there and in Russia every revolutionary uprising immediately poses the restoration of the dictatorship of the proletariat, under revolutionary ways, and the expropriation of the capitalists. The Ukrainian masses gave this meaning to the slogan “let the USSR return”. The new oligarchies of Romania, Ukraine and others are very far away from this.
The working class in Eastern Europe is entering into the fight again. It is the big ally of the workers in the countries of the imperialist Maastricht Europe. To conquer the unity of the European working class in the east and the west is the task to do right now in order to confront Maastricht, IMF, their hired killers such as Putin and to advance in the fight to reopen the socialist revolution in the old world.
The Romanian working class, a vanguard battalion of the European working class in state of rebellion
The Romanian working class since 2008, responding to the crack as a result of the crisis which broke out that year, together with their class brothers and sisters from Eastern Europe has staged huge combats against relaxing of labour benefits and for a decent wage. The metal-mechanic workers were their vanguard and one of the most advanced working class in Europe.
AN EXAMPLE OF THIS WAS THE WORKERS OF DACIA-RENAULT WHICH CLAIMED “WE WANT THE SAME SALARY AS THE WORKERS OF RENAULT IN FRANCE!” in order to get united with the French workers.
This happened as a part of a first revolutionary wave of the entire working class of Europe (East and West) facing 2008 crack. The Stalinist traitors, the trade union bureaucracies, the so-called New Left wrongfully called “anti-capitalist” turned a blind eye on the workers of the colonies that Maastricht’s imperialist gangs have in Europe itself and left the internationalist call of the Romanian workers isolated. Thus, they prevented the revolutionary struggle in the whole European continent to get coordinated.
At the beginning of 2010, the World Social Forum held a meeting in Madrid. They promised a general strike in the entire Europe at the end of the year. This way, a corrupt bureaucracy, a servant of Maastricht imperialist Europe left the European working class isolated en each country facing an enemy that centralized its forces and launched a brutal attack on the exploited of the whole continent so it could burden on them the whole crisis of the imperialist bankers.
This is how the wave of factory occupations in France and the general strikes in Belgium and Portugal were sold out. This is how the movement of the revolutionary masses “indignadas” in the Spanish State was betrayed, as well as the fights of its most militant sectors and the uprisings of the workers in Romania, the first fights of the Ukrainian working class and the struggles of the workers in Georgia and the countries in Caucasus Mountains.
Today, as a consequence of this actions of the treacherous leaderships, the Romanian workers did not succeeded, but neither did the French workers –as for example- who lost the 35 hours of work a week.
In 1989, the imperialist demagogy promised the workers in the east to earn as much as the German workers and now they have even worse wages than the workers of Congo, Bolivia, China, Middle East, etc.; or we have the cases of Russia and Ukraine where workers don’t even collect their wages for months. However, the workers in Germany, France, Spain also see how their conquers are getting lost… their wages low and their jobs lost as the imperialist Maastricht goes bankrupt.
The struggle of the European working class is a single one, from Portugal to the Russian steppes.
The socialimperialist left only recognize the IMPERIALIST EUROPE OF TROIKA, AS THEY ARE THEIR SERVANTS. For them, Europe ends in Germany, Austria and Netherlands.
They cry when the imperialist bandits go in crisis, as the proimperialist “socialists” of England which support Brexit, that is to say, the exit of England from Maastricht to save itself as an imperialist power off from the European ruin. But the true “Brexit” exists in the European East, as it is colonized and plundered by the imperialist gangs.
There are also the shamless “anti-capitalists” that call for a “more social Maastricht” with full democracy, while Maastricht is nothing less than a bunch of imperialist gangsters that have colonized Eastern Europe while they go in dispute for the world market with the rest of the imperialist powers. They pretend to bring “more democracy” to NATO, to their missile shields and the fascist generals that slaughter the colonial and semi-colonial peoples.
These “anticapitalists”, this “New Left” as that of Syriza and Podemos or the renegades of Trotskyism are hiding that the imperialist bourgeoisie are overexploiting and plundering not only the peoples in Maghreb, Middle East, Africa or Latin America but also Europe itself, which is a few hundreds or thousands of kilometers away from where they live. They are just covering up for the crimes of their imperialist bandits.
Just to give an example, this trash left of Syriza and the world left treat the Greek bankers as if they were a native bourgeoisie of a colony. It is a lie! Colonies are in Glacis and in Eastern Europe.
It is a lie! This is an excuse to support the Greek imperialist bankers, junior partners of Morgan Bank and London City… This is just to support the shipyard owners that control the routes of world trade with their battleships.
One of the most backward imperialist countries in Europe as Greece has 300.000 soldiers of NATO under their command. They patrol the trading routs of the Mediterranean Sea and Suez Canal. With their banks they plunder the poor peoples of the Balkans, on behalf of US and Maastricht imperialisms.
The socialimperialist left also wants to hide and isolate the heroic struggle of their brothers, the workers of Eastern Europe, when as yesterday in Ukraine and today in Romania threatened to be the biggest allies of the working class in the imperialist powers of Maastricht. They defend the interests of the transnational companies. They are the labour aristocracy and bureaucracy, bought by the finance capital to strangle the unity of the world working class.
The working class and the Romanian masses have accumulated a huge experience in mass political struggle
THE ENGINE OF STRUGGLE OF THE ROMANIAN WORKERS IS THAT THEY REFUSE TO HAVE THE LOWEST WAGES OF EUROPE (AS IN UKRAINE) WHEN THEIR COUNTRY GROWS ABOVE 5%.
While the imperialist pirates and the oligarch managers have superprofits from the colonized Romania in euros and dollars, they pay miserable wages in a devaluated Romanian currency for the high qualified workers whose living standards fall every day with no schools or hospitals. The thirst for profits of the imperialists doesn’t let them resources to improve the precarious infrastructure.
The imperialist bourgeoisie of Maastricht and the shameless left speak of a “dual velocity Euro” and they keep silent that this already exists: they have a currency to steal away Romania and the rest of the countries of Eastern Europe, the euro, and have worthless papers (the Romanian currency Leu) to pay the workers for them to feed as they can.
The workers in the imperialist Europe should look into the mirror of the Romanian workers, because this is what will happen to them as Maastricht crisis gets deeper. That is to say, the imperialist bankers strangle the European working class with a single rope that has to ends.
On the one hand we see what happens to the workers in the imperialist Europe: the workers collect their wages in euros but in amounts that don’t let them live even half a month, while the slave work increases each day.
On the other hand, there’s the plan that already exists in Romania and other republics “annexed to the EU”: a euro as a measurement unity for the trading and financial transactions and a worthless currency for paying the workers wages.
Those shameless of the trade union bureaucracies and the social imperialists make the working class of the imperialist countries to be tied to the needs of their own capitalist governments. They applaud, as the British SWP does or as several social imperialist currents promote- to exit Europe and only stayed as associated, that is to say, for their bourgeoisies to make transactions or superprofits in euro or dollars while their working class are paid with semi colonies salaries. That’s the British plan of Brexit, supported by the socialimperialist left.
Other ones want to keep the unity of the Europe of Maastricht -such as Varoufakis and his Plan B of the Greek left- in order to “democratize it”. That is to say, let the workers starve with euro at the expense of the superprofits of the imperialist monopolies but “with democracy”.
The two policies of the treacherous left condemns the working class to be in between the hot coal of euro and the fire of devaluated currencies that save local bourgeoisies.
The alternative for the European working class is the path that today is marking the Romanian working class: to attack capital and all its institutions of domination, the expropriation of imperialist bankers, the revolutionary overthrow of their governments, demolition of states of parasites and plunderers of the planet. The Europe of the workers councils and revolution is that one who must be and the path to be opened in a bankrupt continent that trhows its entire crisis on the exploited. Without any question, if the working class doesn’t provide a way out of this barbarism, war will come, as we have seen it in the 20th century.
Neither Maastricht or Brexit! For a Europe which started 100 years ago with the revolution of October in Russia, that opened the way for the rising of the workers councils and the socialist revolution!
The Romanian working class is at the head of this struggle. We are before a working class that has been fighting for years. In 2010, as we saw it, it was part of a pre-revolutionary uprising in Europe with the French and Greek working class. It settled an internationalist leap in the program for the unity of the workers across Europe as the workers of Dacia-Renault cried “we want the same wage as the Renault workers in France”. The Stalinist trade union bureaucracies, the “anticapitalist” of words and enemies of socialism in the facts came to drown this revolutionary program posed by the masses in their fights.
Already in 2015 huge mass demonstrations in Romania overthrew the government of Victor Ponta, also from the Social Democratic Party, after the fire in a disco in Bucarest killed 64 young men and women. This was allowed by the government then, as much as corrupt as the one of today. Corruption continues to be under the control of these bourgeois gangs that administrate -as lackeys- the imperialist plunder in the former workers states.
Now, the Romanian masses already have learnt in the mass political struggle. They have gained trust in their forces to confront the lackey governments of IMF, EU and NATO. They have learnt that the governments can be removed by the people whenever they want. Further, they have learnt that the most minimum demand can only be achieved by defeating and demolishing the government and the state of the oppressors.
