From the Greek dungeons
Facing the Day of Struggle for the freedom of the political prisoners on December 31
The political prisoners of the Greek youth state:
“Despite the political differences, we have to get unified to carry out a unified single fight
for the freedom of all the world political prisoners”
“When we are at war or confronting the oppressors’ state,
we have to seek what unifies us to carry on a stronger unified struggle”
“It is important to set up an international net to coordinate the fight for the freedom of all the world political prisoners, because it is not only about December 31, but every day the fight must be continued for the release of all, to stop the genocide in Syria and for the defeat of this unfair system that creates jails and massacres”
December 29, 2015. Once again the tribunal of the imperialist Troika gathers to seek to sentence jail for several years to the Greek rebel youth. Since they are a symbol of struggle against the bankers that have stolen the people’s wealth, against the austerity plans of the imperialist Troika that have left youth without future and against the oppression of the capitalists that impose on workers a high rate of unemployment and a miserable salary. To confront these conditions and fight for a decent life was their “crime”. For that “crime”, the Greek bankers and their police and State have put them in the Koridallos prison (outside Athens, the Greek capital). There, Syriza keeps them in jail, today they are the jailers of the left-wing. Under his government, multiples judges have been open and continued to sentence the rebel youth to spend many years in prison, and even life sentence.
The families and friends of the Greek political prisoners have called to convene an action for the freedom of all the political prisoners on December 31. In Greece, they will gather the eve of New Year outside the Koridallos prison and there they will receive the New Year together. At international level, media campaigns are ready and in different countries they are getting ready to make this December 31 a true international fighting day.
As correspondent I went on December 29 to one of the judges against these rebel Greek youth. There, the political prisoners told me their messages facing this fighting day on December 31.
“I have been insisting in all the organizations with my message. That is, despite the political differences, we have to get unified to carry out a single unified struggle for the freedom of all the world political prisoners. We have to launch a strong fight, and this is done by getting unified. The struggle for the freedom of all the prisoners and against the oppressors’ state is a question that belongs to all the oppressed”. Panagiotis Argirou told me, one of the political prisoners who confront multiple causes, judges and threats to be condemned to life sentence.
“I want to tell all the organizations and comrades that will be with us in different parts of the world that they can spread these activities they will carry on as part of the Black December called by me and Nikos Romanos (another Greek rebel young political prisoner) from the jail. The idea is to integrate everything”. Panagiotis said.
“It is important that all the organizations that will take part of this international day on 31/12 and have already done it on 12/12 to stand up in an international net to coordinate the fight for the freedom of all the political prisoners all across the world. As anarchist I am against to set up an organization but I do believe that the international coordination is important, and for that it is the setting up of such net, that has to be of solidarity and fight. Since it is not only about the 31/12 day, but everyday the fight must continue, for the freedom of all, to stop the genocide in Syria, and to defeat this unfair system that creates these prisons and massacres” said Giorgios Karagiannidis, another Greek rebel young
It is over midday and the session of the trial had not started yet. They took advantage of the time they had to greet the Syrian resistance, who is fighting against Bashar Al Assad.
They are thrilled about that fight and they look forward the victory of the exploited people’s revolution. Despite being in jail, they follow closely the events in Syria and the entire Maghreb and Middle East.
“The Syrian masses are the ones on the front. They are dying. We must support them. We support them from the jails”, another Greek youth, Dimitris Politis, said.
“I expect a big support for the Syrian masses. They are at war. As I always say, when someone is at war or confronting the oppressors’ State, we have to look what unifies us to carry out a stronger unified fight. This is why I also expect a movement of solidarity and international fight”, said Giorgios Nikolopoulos, using the little time he had left to talk and give statements outside the prison, before the trial started.
Finally Troika’s judges entered and the trial started. Defenders’ attorneys of the youth went over the accusations of the trial; they denounced that it is a political attack against these Greek youths because they think differently, because they want a future, and they also denounced that the anti-terrorist law cannot be applied against them or any of the 52 rebel youth imprisoned who are being charged not only in this trial, but in multiple ones. The decision will be made on January 13th, 2016.
Until then, the comrades are strong. They do not believe for a second that their freedom will come from these courts. They do not recognize them. They only recognize the oppressed peoples and their fight. They put their faith on that; on the continuity of the fight against the state; against the oppressors internationally, and as part of this fight they will recover their freedom.
The passion for freedom is stronger than the dungeons of the prisons!
Freedom to the Greek rebel youth, the 7000 Palestinians in dungeons of Zionism and all the political prisoners of the world!
Acquittal of the oil workers of Las Heras, Argentina!
Let’s stop the slaughter in Syria, by defeating dog Bashar Al Assad!
