Interview to Carolina Ruiz, Daniel's sister
We made an interview to Carolina Ruiz, sister of Daniel Ruiz, former oil worker delegate of Chubut, imprisoned for seven months in Marcos Paz for fighting on December 18th 2017, against the pension reform.
“The ideal would be that the April 30th strike would not be something symbolic, but something really ours, to show the government that we are not afraid and that we will keep marching forward.”
Open the Road to the Working Woman: We are in the city of La Plata, marching for the comrades of East bus line. Tell us what you have lived today and what your feelings were.
Carolina: The idea was to come and stand in solidarity with the families of the drivers. I know of the pain that causes to have innocent people and the injustice that causes to know we cannot get them free, as it is something that has nothing to do with the law but with politics.
I want to give my strength to the families of East bus line, to stand in solidarity and send a message saying we have to unify our voices. It is the only way to be able to tell this government “Enough is enough!” “We are not afraid!” “We will keep fighting and demanding our rights!”.
The ideal would be that the April 30th strike would not be something symbolic, but something really ours, to show the government that we are not afraid and that we will keep marching forward.
ORWW: As you said, if the April 30th strike does not raise the demand for releasing the prisoners, it will be a symbolic strike, it will be useless as there are many comrades imprisoned. Do we have the chance of coordinating this struggle? How do you see it?
C: I think that it is the only way of start saying “enough!”. I think that if we all go down to the streets, not only the workers, and we show them that we have the power, not them, we could beat them and we would not have sentences, prisoners, and mostly we could end this that denigrates us as persons, with the wages that do not cover the expenses of the whole month.
ORWW: Is there anything else you want to add?
C: Thank you all those who are endorsing the campaign to free my brother. I want to be together with all the fighters and all the workers in this persecution that the government is doing to each one of them. We should not fear them and we have to keep on taking to the streets.
