The Frente Amplio and the New Peru Movement, emerging from the bowels of the bourgeois parties of the Fujimorist regime
The "New Left" in Peru: a scam to the working class
The loss of prestige of the Fujimorist regime, which comes from being seriously questioned and hit by the struggles of the working class and the exploited masses, is enormous. And so is that of its main supporter, the treasonous and strike-breaking bureaucracy of the CGTP that is hated by the vast majority of the workers' movement, as demonstrated by the sails deployed in the heroic strike of last year's teachers who ignore the bureaucracy of Patria Roja in the CGTP and CEN-SUTEP and set up their own fighting organizations to be able to fight.
Given this, we have seen how the Frente Amplio, the Peruvian Podemos, stood up in 2015 thanks to the party "Landand Freedom" of the ex-priest Arana, a man of imperialist NGOs, patronage politicians such as the former aprista Alberto Salgado and the former congressmen of the Peruvian Nationalist Party of Ollanta Humala, among them the bourgeois Veronika Mendoza, who, in 2012, before breaking with Humala's party, voted in favor in the Parliament of the entrance of the Yankee military troops to Peru. Obviously, the Stalinist and Maoist traitor bureaucrats of Patria Roja of the CGTP could not be absent on this front.
A true front of class collaboration with the bourgeoisie that was set up to save and sustain the Fujimorist regime in crisis. An example of this was when the Frente Amplio called in the second round of the 2016 presidential elections, to vote for the "democratic" Kuczynski as the "lesser evil" against the "fascist" Keiko Fujimori. The working class and the exploited are those who paid for the triumph of the government of Kuczynski, who unleashed the most ferocious anti-worker attacks by order of imperialism, which continues today to apply his successor Vizcarra.
Less than a year ago the Frente Amplio broke up, with Veronika Mendoza's wing breaking to form the New Peru Movement and the ex-priest Arana remaining the main leader of the Frente Amplio. Both have the support of Stalinism, either from the hand of the CGTP bureaucracy and the official Communist Party that support Mendoza, or from Maoist groups that stayed with Arana.
But in essence the Frente Amplio and New Peru have no difference ... Both proclaim the same recipe to fight for "democracy" in order to remove the masses from revolutionary combat and paint "democratic" a regime of looting, massacres, political prisoners, Yankee military bases, hunger and repression.
Both are a real scam against the workers of servants of imperialism who do not say a single word against the US that is colonizing Peru. They want to pose as "leftists" when they are at the feet of the Yankee pirates.
So much so, that the parliamentary work of the 10 congressmen with whom each one of these fronts counts, is to dedicate itself to give a quorum and legitimize every anti-labor law that is approved in that true Wall Street writing office.
Now, before these municipal elections, the Frente Amplio and the New Peru Movement are presented in different candidacies, but as we have seen, they have no difference between them and none is an alternative for the working class. In any case, they will use these elections to decide between Arana and Mendoza the supremacy that each one has towards the presidential elections, but without playing for a minute their role as the fundamental support of the Fujimorist regime and this new electoral trap against the exploited.
