Presidential electoral trap in his second round
In an open policy of class collaboration…
UIT-CI / UNÍOS are calling to vote
for Pedro Castillo of Peru Libre
A scandalous position
Peru's presidential elections will have a runoff on June 6. Thus, by imposing this electoral trap, the bourgeoisie is seeking and trying to stabilize, re-legitimize the State and the institutions of the Fujimorist regime, which have been totally discredited after the revolutionary uprising of November 2020 of the workers, peasants and combative youth of Peru. This enormous struggle left the regime and all its corrupt political parties damaged, with the masses in the streets pulled down the murderous Merino government.
It was within reach of our hands to take power with the perspective that the working class and the poor peasants give an independent and revolutionary solution to the crisis. But due to the traitorous actions of the CGTP led by Stalinism and Patria Roja (Red Homeland), this breakthrough was aborted, giving a time of survival to the Fujimorist regime in crisis and decomposition.
Thus, once the electoral trap has been imposed, the bourgeoisie aims to define in a second electoral round, whether it is Keiko (daughter of the fascist Fujimori) of the Fuerza Popular bourgeois party who assumes the presidency or Pedro Castillo, a late Bolivarian who with sugar-coated gossip and from a bourgeois party as Peru Libre tries to convince the workers and poor peasants to an open policy of class collaboration.
Faced with this situation, different parties on the left have published their political positions. Such is the case of UNÍOS (an organization of the UIT-CI in Peru) that has made public a statement calling to vote “critically” for Pedro Castillo, (Extracted from Uníos Facebook: "The anger and discontent won! Unity to confront the right wing and critical vote for Pedro Castillo!" Of 04/19/21) .When Castillo as an applicant whose presidential candidate publicly supports the imperialist investments in the plundered Peru, as stated : "We must review these contracts with large transnational companies, welcome mining extraction, but where the population and nature allow it, welcome domestic private investment, but with clear rules (...) welcome foreign investment." (Interview in Exitosa, 04/12/21). Moreover, this bourgeois party Peru Libre has its top leader Vladimir Cerrón serving a prison sentence in suspense for more than 3 years since mid-2019 for corruption and thief during his management of the case of "La Oroya" in the Junin region. On top of that, last year his party sealed an alliance with a sector of micro-entrepreneurs and a faction of the Israelite church.
The UIT-CI / Uníos don´t ignore any of this, already for the first round they called for a null or blank vote: “we are convinced that there is no alternative for working people. Whoever wins (…) the next government will apply the political program of CONFIEP and the businessmen, with more adjustment against the people." And they concluded clearly, including Pedro Castillo (in their analysis): “The 21 candidates for the presidency are only a guarantee of continuity of a support to the business community and to sustain the crisis in favor of the businessmen with more rescue (…) Castillo disputes to rule with the PL organization with a program that is nothing more than a cheating vest for working people. Peru Libre (…) is plagued by corrupt people and calls to govern with businessmen “(our bolds). (Unios Newspaper N°30 "So that the capitalists pay for the crisis and not the working people, annul your vote!" of 23/3).
Therefore, it is surprising that the UIT-CI today calls for a critical vote for Pedro Castillo, representative of the Peru Libre bourgeois party in an open and clear policy of class collaboration. Where was your call, headed by their leader Fernandez Chacón, to set up a "Workers Party with class independence", together with the Mining Federation of Peru, if today they call to support the bosses? This is a scandalous position of the UIT-CI / Uníos, because Castillo, instead of fighting for a “Free Peru”, will actually tie us with double and triple chains to imperialism and FTA(free trade agreement), leaving the US imperialist military bases untouched, which are custodians of the looting of our resources and super exploitation in the country and the continent.
A continental policy of the left in support of the popular fronts of class collaboration
But it is not only the UIT-CI that supports Castillo, because the LIT / PST (who claim to be Trotskyists) also claimed to fight for political independence; in the first round they did not give their vote to any of the candidates; and today, they call to vote for Castillo in a covert way, because, according to them the vote for him "will channel the vote to repudiate Fujimorism" and "would be a defeat for the bourgeoisie and imperialism and their neoliberal plan."(Avanzada Socialista Newspaper: “Let's close the way to Fujimorism and the looting of our wealth! 04/22/2021)
Likewise, Bodart of the Argentine ISL-MST proclaims the Stalinist policy of making an “anti-Fujimorist” front or bloc with sectors of the bourgeoisie; they indicate: “Verónika Mendoza, from Together for Peru and the rest of the left would have to play an active role between now and the ballotage against Fujimori and his project " (“Peru: crisis elections and surprises from the left” April 14, 2021).
Actually, in decisive moments, the renegades of Trotskyism always end up liquidating any policy of class independence to embrace some political front of class collaboration with the bourgeoisie, reissuing the nefarious policy of Stalinism of supporting the "progressive" bourgeoisie against the "reactionary”.
Today they call to vote for Castillo to defeat Keiko's right wing. Yesterday the UIT-CI itself with its leader Chirino called for the gathering of 10 million votes for Chávez so he could succeed “against the right”.Likewise, the PO of Argentina (today without Altamira) called to vote for Evo Morales in 2005. All the FIT-U parties in Argentina and all the renegades of Trotskyism supported Haddad against Bolsonaro in Brazil. The LIT-CI did the same by calling for a vote for the bourgeois Petro against the Uribist Duque in Colombia, while everyone were left hanging from the coattails of the millionaire Zionist Sanders in the US, the “left” of the butchers of the Democratic Party.
No support for Pedro Castillo, representative of the bourgeois Peru Libre party or any of the parties of the reactionary regime protected by the US imperialist military bases!
For the political independence of the workers to regroup our forces and resume the combat of November 2020 and lead it to victory by blowing up the Fujimorist regime of FTA, its government and its reactionary constitution!
In the midst of the bourgeois seeking to divert the deep hatred of the exploited to the murderous regime with its electoral trap, it´s a tragedy that the Trotskyist leader and referential Fernandez Chacón, who had called (together with Hugo Blanco) to fight for “Workers to power, without bosses or generals!" in the Peruvian Student - Peasant - Workers' Front (FOCEP) of 1978, calling today to vote for a bourgeois party in the presidential elections. But we have already seen him as a deputy of the Frente Amplio, also a bourgeois party of class collaboration led by Verónica Mendoza.
It is incredible to see them who yesterday, after their break with the Frente Amplio(Broad Front) called for a Workers' Party with class independence and today they are leading that same party to support Castillo from the bourgeois Peru Libre party. How is it that UNÍOS and Fernandez Chacón call now to vote for the executioner of the workers? This policy of class collaboration represents a severe hit to the struggle to put Peruvian Trotskyism on its feet and to regroup the forces of the working class with class independence. It is unbelievable that they have raised such a position that subjects the workers to the bourgeoisie.
We call on UNÍOS and its militants to review their position regarding the presidential elections runoff, to withdraw their voting support for Pedro Castillo.
No support for the bourgeoisie! Death to the capitalists! Death to imperialism! The revolutionary fire of the masses and the water thrown by the bourgeoisie can´t get together!
We the Trotskyists of the LSTI of Peru are calling not to trust one iota in Peru Libre and Castillo or any of the other bosses' parties of the reactionary regime, we cannot trust our executioners. We call on all the unions, on the Mining Federation, which called to set up a Workers Party, to reject the call of UNÍOS and its leader Fernandez Chacón that support Castillo in the elections.
What the workers 'base needs today is to fight for class independence and regroup their ranks, it´s in this perspective that they struggled to set up the Workers' Party that will serve the workers and peasants base in their fight to get rid of the straitjacket of the union bureaucracies that have submitted us for years to the infamous regime and its lackey governments of the Yankee military bases The key is about preparing the counteroffensive by resuming the struggle that we began in November of last year with the shout "Let all of them go out! Not a single one of them should remain," by recovering our fighting organizations and leave no stone on stone of this rotten Fujimorist regime. The same mass anti-imperialist struggle in the entire Latin America following the example of the rebellious workers and peasants of Colombia who do not surrender.
Enough of class collaborationism! Open the way to the struggle for the political independence of the workers!
Open the way to the worker and peasant alliance!
Out with the IMF and the imperialist NGOs! Out with the US military bases from Peru, Colombia and all of Latin America!
Yankees Go Home!
