Brazil - November 2022
Imperialism defines that Lula-Alckmin is the government it needs today to defend its businesses
In 13 years of government, the PT surrendered two presidents to the reaction after intransigently defending the interests of the transnationals and imperialism in Brazil. It did it with Dilma before the impeachment of the bosses' politicians and then with Lula, blessed by the Church, who surrendered to Judge Moro and to the bourgeois justice under the tutelage of Wall Street.
Only the working class and the popular sectors in struggle confronted Bolsonaro and the whole reaction
Huge workers struggles for wage increase and against the high cost of living and the attack on their conquests shook Brazil in the last 3 years. The metalworkers, the metal mechanic workers, the steelworkers fought. Huge strikes of the oil workers shook the nation... It was the exploited masses who faced the attack of Bolsonaro and imperialism, while Lula, the bureaucracy of the central unions and their class collaboration front, with the promise that in 2022 they would "defeat Bolsonaro with the elections", at every step, divided the workers' offensive and prepared the electoral diversion with the PT and the bourgeoisie.
This was a true conspiracy. Lula had his court cases dropped and, once free, he went to embrace Alckmin, the representative of the big Paulist bourgeoisie, as well as Meirelles, the most important CEO of the Bank of Boston in Brazil.
But none of this was enough to fool the workers. The CP of Brazil and all its Stalinist collaterals, but fundamentally the PSOL (Party of Socialism and Liberty), linked to the so-called "anti-capitalists" of the former Unified Secretariat of the former Fourth International, openly supported this trap and this fraud against the working class, and were a key factor in the conspiracy together with the big capitalists against the workers. True Judases and traitors of socialism sweetened this fraud against the masses.

Lula and his class collaboration front was the decisive factor for which Bolsonaro was not defeated by a revolutionary action of the working class of Brazil and his struggle did not advance to the levels of mass offensive as in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, etc. But he was "defeated" electorally by barely 1,200,000 votes. And it comes out of the electoral process keeping intact its reactionary forces supported by the rich and impoverished middle classes and millions of hungry people, to whom Lula and the PT, in its 13 years of government, gave nothing and only attacked their standard of living.
This shows that Lula won the honor in the US embassy to manage, with the big capitalists and bankers, the businesses of the bourgeoisie in the next 4 years... But it also shows that the reactionary and counterrevolutionary forces of Bolsonaro were maintained thanks to the "democratic and progressive front" -which today takes the lead of businesses in Brazil again- while reaction took to the streets and surrounds the barracks, threatening with a mass social force for the armed forces to intervene if the workers and exploited manage to exceed the limits of this new pro-imperialist bourgeois government that will take office on January 1 in Brazil.

This is what the fronts of class collaboration are about, namely the fronts of the working class parties and organizations with sectors of the bourgeoisie, that is to say, with their "democratic executioners". Those organizations call them "progressive" but, as Trotsky said about the tragedy of the Spanish civil war in the 1930's, they prove to be nothing more than a detour to take the masses off the revolutionary road so that, unarmed and disorganized, fascism and counterrevolution can be organized.
The PSTU, which fought for a policy of class independence in the first round of the elections and denounced Lula's front with the big finance bosses of in Brazil, in the second round of the elections, for the sake of "defeating Bolsonaro", "confronting the right-wing", saying that “it was necessary to accompany the experience of the working class", called to vote for the Lula-Alckmin front. Miserable! Those who call themselves revolutionaries see that the masses are going to fall off a cliff and decide to join them to death, instead of alerting them to face the betrayal that ties their hands and prepares future defeats. No surprise about that. It was the policy they had, as we publish in these pages of the IWO dedicated to the key question of Latin America which today is Brazil, supporting all the bourgeois fronts of pro-imperialist class collaboration in Latin America.

In the American continent, the traitors of the Fourth International buried their entire revolutionary legacy. They traveled by hundreds to support Sanders in the USA who, in turn, took the American proletariat off the streets so that Biden, the "democratic imperialist", who as commander in chief of the counterrevolutionary butchers of NATO controls, with his fascist armed forces, his domination of the planet, could take over.
In 2019 they all traveled to Havana… From the FIT-U of Argentina, from the PSOL, the "Anticapitalists", the English left currents like The Militant and all the groups of the former Trotskyists, to openly support the scoundrels and falsifiers of Marxism of the Cuban "communist left". They gathered to "reconstitute the figure of Trotsky as a revolutionary leader in the 20th century", and while doing so, they supported the counterrevolutionary Diaz-Canel and the Castro brothers' CP of Havana, which ended up filling the Cuban working class with a bloodbath and imprisoning its best fighters when they revolted against hunger.
They intervened in the fraudulent constituent assemblies that legitimized the imprisonment of the rebellious youth in Chile.
They supported the "lesser evil" of Petro in Colombia, the Arce government in Bolivia and, together with Stalinism, openly supported Castillo, a true lackey of the mining transnationals that plunder Peru.
They are the left of the US imperialism, those who revived Stalinism and those who led the Fourth International in the American continent into the mire of betrayal and ignominy.

In Brazil, they are very far from the legacy of Mario Pedrosa, the anti-fascist leader of the Trotskyists who in the 1930s showed, under the leadership of Trotsky and the Fourth International, how to fight fascism, setting up, together with anarchists who led different trade unions, a powerful workers militia, which crushed the fascists. Fascism never rose up again in Brazil until a handful of scoundrels and traitors of the reformist left tied the fate of the working class to its "democratic" bourgeoisie.
This way, they managed to separate the working class from the ruined middle classes and succeeded in making fascism rise again in Brazil... It’s a tragedy.
For a week, Bolsonaro did not recognize the electoral result. Reactionary forces marched to the barracks to demand military intervention while the workers' organizations and the currents that proclaim themselves socialists looked the other way.
How will the rank and file soldiers do to "defend democracy" and the freedom of the working class and the exploited tomorrow if today they were left alone in the barracks, under the command of the murderous officers, supported by an enormous reactionary mass?
The treacherous policy of Stalinism, of popular fronts and class collaboration, has already caused hundreds of defeats in the 20th century in Latin America in particular: Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia, bloody Argentina... Democracy is defended with the method of the proletarian revolution. The submission of the workers to the bourgeoisie, however "progressive" they may be dressed, means the water that puts out the fire. It means the renunciation of the struggle for their demands, for their dignified work, for their wages, for their roof, for their health, for the education of their children, because a single one of these demands makes the "democratic" bourgeois abandon unity and his "struggle for democracy". It ties the hands of the proletariat by not attacking the property of the capitalists, which is the only possibility for it to give the ruined and desperate middle classes a way out of their crisis.

This is what the "democratic fronts" are about, a perfidious treacherous policy of Mensheviks, Stalinists, and now of the renegades of Trotskyism, true "Judases" sold out to the bourgeois regimes in which they live and drink in their bourgeois parliaments or in their seats of trade union bureaucrats.
The final word has not been said. With the inauguration of Lula, imperialism finds the government it needs for this moment to contain the masses, while keeping in the streets the reactionary forces ready to wield the whip if the "democratic front" does not manage to defeat them first. It’s a deadly trap. |
